Looks like you are all about dark lagers today. Love the style. I'll be going to my grave angry that Austin Beerworks made Black Thunder a seasonal only.

Earlier in the day while it still felt cool (relatively speaking of course) I was doing dark lagers, but by mid afternoon it was all pilsners.

That was my pre-Father's Day brewery crawl.  Great thing is my oldest is now 17 and she was our designated driver.  Good times.

Indeed, and so is Distant Relatives  That brisket was about perfect on Saturday, and the chicken quarter is fantastic.  Those burnt end black eyed peas are one of the best sides in the entire BBQ-verse.  Every time I visit, I always have to kick myself for not visiting more often.

Gold is the best Pilsner made in the Austin area. Change my mind.

That is a great read ... thanks, @Firemans4Horn.

Having moved north well before it opened, I've not heard of Peticolas, but now it's on my list. Definitely need a Velvet Hammer run when I pass through Dallas again.

Liked this quote from the founder:

Michael is visibly mentally back in El Paso as he says this, sitting on his mother Jaque’s porch, drinking her homebrew.

“And that was my first realisation of the experience being what it's all about when it comes to beer. It's not just the taste. It's the experience, everything that's going on. Good settings, good friends, family. That's why a terrible beer in Manaus tastes fantastic. ‘Cause you're there for the World Cup.”

Personally I'm partial to LO Pilz.  But I'd be willing to go with, Gold is the best German style pilsner, in Austin. :)

Word on the street is Jester King is circling the drain

Didn’t Elder Son just buy that 1960 location after it failed as Southern Yankee?

You assholes in Austin better support Jester King.

Found this in a beer store in California. Had never seen it in the states, and they got it in a week ago.

It's fairly common in Atlanta. A few places have it on tap as well.
