Ironically Occidental’s Fresh Hop Pils might be my favorite Fresh Hop of all time. Never expected it to come from a Pils!

Best Mexican lager?  Please don't say Modelo.  (I'm making borracho beans.)

Absolutely Bohemia.  It's a legitimately good Czech-style pilsner,  and not just "for a Mexican beer."

Good enough for tarring the rooftop of the plate factory?

Having one right now…along with several others at the Loyal Legion taproom location at PDX. This is the best airport bar I’ve seen. Went to Loyal Legion’s main location last time in Portland this is just as good selection-wise from what I can tell

Update: just found out our flight is delayed an hour. Of all the places to have to ride it out (plus watch the games on multiple screens) this will do just fine.

Crazy good prices for an Airport too.

And this is how you do the place past security that has local beers to take on the plane for decent price and not old AF.

Bad news is our flight got delayed until tomorrow. FML.

Quick trip to Port A this weekend. Citramatic, Nueces, 6%. Not familiar with their brews but this was delicious. I’ll have to keep an eye out for them.

@Iceman drinking an IPA. Maybe the world is ending this week.

At 9.5%, he probably forgot how bad it tasted after the first swig. I saw that Citrus Boom on the shelf for the first time a few days ago and thought they might as well call it Yucky Boom.

I actually prefer the higher ABV, typically but not always. With beer it often accompanies a deeper flavor profile, but that certainly isn't absolute- Guinness checks in at 4.2 ABV.   On a football Saturday/ Sunday, it's about a 1 beer per quarter pace. That was actually the first brewskie of the day after I had mowed the yard.

I also drink bourbon, so there's that, as well. Not on the same day...usually.

Made the most of our cancelled flight out of PDX yesterday afternoon by going record shopping at Music Millennium (open since 1969) and which always has (fittingly enough) Boneyard’s RPM IPA on tap to enjoy while browsing and later dinner at a nearby Italian place. Good times.

Saint Arnold - Cold IPA, 6.3% Alc.

Had hope for this one, but it's another IPA fail for me. Taste like grapefruit. Interesting in that it's said to be lager fermented. You heathen IPA lovers might like it though.

That would be right in my wheelhouse.

This seems like a backwards way to say it's a hoppy lager, and I've long been a fan of those (back to the days when Sam Adams made Noble Pils).

Speaking of Sam Adams, I wish they still made their Boston Ale. I haven't tried their Summer Ale, but its description doesn't encourage me too either.

Might be my first time trying Saint Arnold Oktoberfest, it’s absolutely delicious. Maybe the best one I’ve had. Yalls pictures made me want to try it! Prost

Return leg through the UK so now testing out some of their finest low ABV brews. This one being a Brixton hazy IPA at 4.2%. I miss that one as well, but Amber ales aren't exactly huge sellers these days. Full Sail used to distribute their Amber here, but no more. Same with Ballast Point. Not sure if the latter still brews that one.

Saint Arnold makes a good one with a bold bitter profile similar to Sam Adams, but not identical, and it's part of their standard line. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Saint Arnold Amber Ale was inspired by Sam Adams to a degree. I first tried Sam Adams in Austin back when I was attending Texas, not long after I first tried a good homebrew, which inspired me to seek out better than mainstream. Yes, IPAs are all the rage now and it appears my tastebuds are inclined not to like most of them. I haven't given up on them though, and keep trying new ones occasionally. Some have been OK, but not good enough to choose them over other stuff. Shiner made the Wicked Ram IPA that I liked, but it's discontinued. A couple I've tried by Sierra Nevada weren't so bad.

How was it?  Czech dark lagers are one of my favorite styles.

I bought a 4-pack to take home.  I like the style, too, but I'm surprised it's (sort of) finding a following over here. When I lived in Prague/Brno in the mid-90s, you would see it on tap, but hardly anyone ever ordered it.  I remember it being more along the lines of a Schwarzbier (a little sweet), rather than a Dunkel (roastier), but the US versions here tend more toward the latter.  Of course, it's been a while since I've had a Czech beer in the Czech Rep.  There was absolutely none of the side-pull lukr stuff back then either.  That must have been recently resurrected from the pre-communist times.

Food is still great, and they always have something on the tap list that I'll drink.
