August 19Aug 19 was surprised to find live oak, pinthouse, and jester king at a liquor store in boulder, co last week.
August 20Aug 20 I can't even get Live Oak in Amarillo. Hell, not even in LBK last 6 months or so. Love their beer. Hate their distribution.

Live Oak and ABW don’t even distribute to DFW outside of some super limited Live Oak Hefe drops. Not sure you can complain about not seeing them out in the middle of nowhere.

August 23Aug 23 Saint Arnold - Guten Tag, 5.8% Alc. 👍 Another excellent seasonal by Saint Arnold. Now if I can just find it in a dedicated 6-pack instead of their fall season sampler 12-pack, which unfortunately has the odious Art Car IPA. Purchased this as a single.
August 23Aug 23 Dank Meme Hazy Pale Ale - Well executed. Triptych Brewing, Savoy, IL. South of Champaign Edited August 23Aug 23 by boilerhorn
August 24Aug 24 India Pale Lager at Riggs Beer Company. Urbana, IL. Well executed. Place was packed today, because of their “Sweet Corn Festival,” which is as Midwest as can be.
August 24Aug 24 I'm not a huge IPA fan, but I tried both Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig the other night. Both were good (for an IPA), but not sublime. Maybe I drank them he wrong way. I'll show myself out.
August 24Aug 24 IMPO the remarkable thing about PTE is how drinkable it is for a Double IPA. Incredibly balanced and drinkable. If you’re looking for something singular/different in flavor it could disappoint you

August 31Aug 31 Drank 4 straight Ayinger Oktoberfests yesterday afternoon to drown my sorrows after that craptacular game. It's so good. Still the best of the bunch.
September 3Sep 3 First Oktoberfest of the season. Ayinger is probably the best, but this is a close second.

September 6Sep 6 512 Oktoberfest by 512 Brewing. 5.8% abv. It’s good and I would drink it again. Saint Arnold is still my #1 Oktoberfest followed closely by Ayinger
September 6Sep 6 Have never seen this beer or this can size (8 cans of 8.4oz) until today. I’m a Pils snob and Sierra Nevada’s website about this beer seems very snobbish; hot damn did they deliver. It’s great.

That's an odd size indeed, just a smidge under half the pint+ cans of 16.9 oz, so almost the same as the 4-packs of 16.9 oz cans at 67.6 oz vs a 6-pack of 12 oz at 72 oz.

Trying to remember if I ever had a beer in this size glass (a little over 250 ml) in Europe, but it's been too long. Sierra Nevada says it the "Proper Pilsner" can size. From its head brewer: "I’ve enjoyed beers all over the world, but there’s something special about a proper pilsner at a European pub—crisp, refreshing, and served in a smaller glass to keep it at the ideal temperature and flavor. That’s how PILS is meant to be enjoyed.” (found that quote on a beer mag site, but they stole it directly from the brewer's site) @Firemans4Horn is right -- Sierra Nevada is a little proud of this one. Apparently they even made a special branded glass for it, and they have a limited rollout with an opportunity for drinkers to be informed (signup on the SN website) when it goes national. There are 11 pubs in southern Wisconsin that have it now, according to the website, including Leisure Time Sports Bar and Bowl in Prairie du Chien, across from Fillback Ford and just down the street from the Microtel. Six locations in Austin and seven in Dallas for now. Looks like a pretty eclectic selection of local bars.
September 12Sep 12 I judge people who drink those for fucking up both their margarita and the beer, although the beer is usually shit beer anyhoo. Ketchup on a hotdog judgment. Nothing more. Drink what you want. Edited September 12Sep 12 by Iceman
