January 15Jan 15 Meddlesome Moth closing this spring. Quote Meddlesome Moth, the craft beer gastropub in Dallas' Design District, is reportedly closing in the spring. A spokesperson did not respond to queries, but employees were told that that the longtime beer haunt would not be renewing its lease due to an increase in rent. The Moth was Dallas' original gastropub, a pioneer not only in the craft beer world but also a pioneer in the Design District when it opened there in 2010

I sometimes ask myself the same question. There are a ton of them on the shelves at HEB and seem to be over-represented. OTH, someone must like them for there to be so many. I haven't rendered a judgement overall, but I've only tried three IPA's to date: Shiner Wicked Ram IPA, Saint Arnold Art Car and the recently posted Sierra Nevada Fresh Hops IPA. Of those three, I liked the Shiner Wicked Ram IPA. Alas, it appears to be discontinued -- go figure. Not enough of a sample size for me to declare definitively one way or the other, but I'm a bit hesitant to buy them having disliked 2 of 3 so far, when there are so many other promising prospects. Having said that, while I like pilsners, Ive tried more that I didn't like, than those that I do. Shiner Premium Beer is one of those I do like.
January 16Jan 16 I don’t drink the hoppy stuff, but appreciate the cash flow they provide for stuff I do like. Sometimes I do get frustrated on the road and joint has 4 big brand lagers, ultra, 2-3 Mexican lagers and 2 IPAs. You’re telling me there are no customers who would drink a bock or hell, even a dos amber or Negra Modelo? The tap selections are goofy, and then they get a slow mover on there so it doesn’t change out.

January 26Jan 26 These came in a multipack. Tommy Norris was right about Ultra, but this shit seems even lighter. I will never understand why people buy( a lot) this shit like 30 at a time. Why bother...and it tastes terrible relative to other readily available beer.

I'm guessing that someone will buy it and not change a thing.

It would take a very benevolent buyer with deep pockets to keep it as is. With that asking price the whole math changes for a new owner and gone are $6 pints of Blind Pig. The T has already been struggling the last few years with declining interest in craft beer and no license for liquor. I can't remember the last time I saw the bar reasonably full other than a few special events. It's more likely that a developer will buy it for the 2 lots and build a 3 story property on the site. Currenty it's a single story building that's seen better days.

January 29Jan 29 There’s some debate as to the quality of this brew since their buyout, but I will still pick up a six pack when I’m on the road in Florida. Damn tasty.
January 29Jan 29 How many Houston people we have on this thread? I haven’t gone to a bottle share with strangers in ages. Maybe we need to have one at Great Heights.

Small Brewpub closed during Covid but I guess brought back their beers for this place. The Black Pepper Pils was pretty good. Terrible spot though in an area people just aren't going to go to. It's turning into a Mexican restaurant/bar. I'm not sure what brewery closing newsletter Greenspoint subscribes to. Edited January 30Jan 30 by mdmost

Damn tasty. Hah. They got bought out? When? I came here to comment that HEB is carrying some of their stuff now. Their Jai Alai on draft as of 2-3 years ago was unreal and one of the best beers I've ever had. I had a canned double Jai Alai IPA the other night and it was fine.
January 31Jan 31 Here's a pretty solid "English Ale" from one of metro Atlanta's better breweries. Good Word is worth a visit if you ever find yourself in Gwinnett County. Perhaps at a minor league baseball game or visiting the site of the Larry Flynt shooting.
