January 7Jan 7 Nice “gap filler” by the NCAA, scheduling this Championship during the first free Monday from NFL and CFB playoffs. Great game so far!Hook’em!!!

January 7Jan 7 Another WTF decision by MSU's coaching staff. I get you want to go for the block, but at least have one guy to catch the ball so you get a final play. Just now, ATXbronco said: I don't get it - what was the idea behind not having a return man? Just a fucking dumb decision.
January 7Jan 7 Just now, ATXbronco said: I don't get it - what was the idea behind not having a return man? Pretty dumb for obvious reasons: 1) you get no possible return and 2) time runs out while the ball is still live. I figured the return man would fair catch immediately or run out of bounds. But there was no return man.
January 7Jan 7 I understand thinking that a punt block is your best chance. But go for the block with 10 and hope for a miracle on the return instead of letting the clock run out as the ball rolls.

I understand the thinking that the probability of blocking the punt with 11 is likely greater than scoring on one final play from 80 yards out. However, the combined probability of blocking a punt with 10 and then having another play gives you a greater chance to pull off the miracle.

They probably figured their QB didn't have an 80 yard pass in him.
