One of my cousins lived in Altadena right near Fair Oaks and Altadena. He left back in 2020 to move closer to home and get some family assistance raising his daughters. There was nothing left of his old house except the fireplace. I sent him the first series Marketplace did on the fires back in April. I'm sure he knew many of these businesses.

OK so we’re good.  At the Dena (old Sheraton) in Pasadena.  The whole hotel is full of Altadenaeans and their animals.  Shit is fucking crazy.  We’ve got 2 cats and a dog in our room. Cats are out of

Neighborhood is devastated. Looks like our house will survive. But many friends and neighbors lost their homes. My kids elementary school is gone. Our country club is gone. Neighborhood will neve

  • So we scored, in a way.  We met with ServPro today, and our place is so much more trashed than we thought.  The outside air smells perfectly fine, but our house smells like a campfire.  He went around

Gonna dump tonight.  Big concern about mudslides.  Not where we are but a little further up, with no vegetation on the hillside.  I just went up in the dark with a headlamp to clear leaves from my downspouts.  Good thing I did.  They were fairly plugged .  We've had major leaks when that's happened despite having a relatively new roof.

@Sbbruin I'm reading about bear activity  up your way.  No, not the big, hairy gay dudes.  The actual bear-type bears with claws and teeth.  Some poor bastard in Alta Dena has a bear in his crawlspace.   Anything in your neighborhood?

Ha just seeing this.  Dude, we’ve lived here for 23 years and never used to see bears.  Now we have them on our block multiple times a week.  They’ve knocked over our trash cans several times.  The night after Halloween my daughter’s friend was picking her up.  My daughter walked out the front door and there was a bear 4 feet away on our porch, eating leftover ribs I had thrown in the trash.

Not sure if the vid will load, but that is my house he’s in front of.
