if there's a thread on this, search is broken.

anyone else watching this?  it's not great but it's watchable.  I'm in episode three and it's building nicely.  I read the book a few years ago.

Good show with very interesting and "realistic" subject matter based on fact, but not completely factual.

I have always been intrigued with Irish independence stories, but knew comparatively little about the troubles.

Some other good ones in the general field.

The last one being more troubles related, the prior two being more historical.

Also, it is alluded to, but a Boston College historical project led to the taped interviews of Dolours Price and Brendan Hughes, among others.

And "Mackers," the interviewer Anthony McIntyre, was a member of Hughes'/Adam's "brigade," and, after serving a prison term, took a PhD in history.

BC was subjected to a subpoena for production of the tapes to the Police Service of Northern Ireland and were eventually produced.

So, while the tapes provided Price's and Hughes' confessions in their own words, they weren't necessarily corroborated and both had motive to besmirch Adams, as did McIntyre,  all opposed to UK negotiations, Sinn Fein, and Adams himself.
