March 25, 20187 yr Report: Alabama discussing future home-and-home football series with Notre Dame, Texas
March 25, 20187 yr I am very much in favor of this. Train Herman will be running on lubed rails by the time they get around to playing.

March 25, 20187 yr I highly doubt this happens given Bama's love of neutral site, not really neutral site, games against decent opponents in the OOC. But if two teams might have the cache to make it happen, it's Texas and Notre Dame. In for the away game.

March 25, 20187 yr 1 minute ago, Surly Bevo said: Even if we did this we are probably looking 5-8 years down the road no??? Based on our futures schedules, I'd guess we're looking at 10 years down the road.
March 25, 20187 yr 2025 is when both have an opening. Bama only schedules their neutral sites 2-3 years out. Last one listed is Miami in Atlanta.
March 25, 20187 yr Current future schedules (and let's see how formatting, etc. work on this new site): 2019 08/31 - Louisiana Tech 09/07 - LSU 09/14 - at Rice (NRG Stadium) 2020 09/05 - USF 09/12 - at LSU 2021 09/11 - at Arkansas 09/18 - Rice 2022 09/03 - at USF 09/17 - Ohio State 2023 09/02 - Rice 09/09 - UCF 09/16 - at Ohio State 2024 08/31 - at Michigan 09/07 - USF 2025 TBA 2026 TBA 2027 09/04 - Michigan http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/big-12/texas-longhorns.php

They make a fuckload of extra money playing all those neutral site games. Also is about recruiting. That is something Texas has over even ND, the chance to play in front of Texas HS recruits. As a fan and season ticket holder, I do not like all the neutral site games but I know why they do it. Let's go ahead and get that 2025 and 2026 slots locked down. I want to go to Austin before I die. I will go ahead and put in my order for Franklin's now.
March 25, 20187 yr Well let's be honest. Part of it is money and part of it is controlling just how neutral the game is. It's not like Bama is playing outside of the south and Texas. Saban's not scheduling California as a neutral site. It's a brilliant strategy. Edited March 25, 20187 yr by mdmost

True but also, I don't think any Cali location has offered up any neutral site games. So far that has just been GA, FL and TX. He might accept one in LA, if the Rose Bowl offered one up, just for the CA recruiting bump. The other site to offer up a neutral opener(to LSU) was Lambeau. Not sure he would have accepted that, as WI is not a fertile as a recruiting ground. Edited March 25, 20187 yr by bamachine

I-59 over to I-20, there are various cut-throughs depending on whether you want speed or back roads. Hell, we could do it together, take turns driving. One long day on the road and we're there. I could walk you around and show you where the cool stuff used to be.
March 25, 20187 yr Awesome. Needs to happy. Also should keep a west coast team on the schedule. Really enjoy those trips

Houston was like 3 hours longer. Figure Austin would be about 90-120 minutes longer than DFW.
March 25, 20187 yr 90 minutes from Dallas puts you in Waco, then there's 100 more miles to Austin. Some theoretical motherfucker will tell you it should take less time than that. He's the one who's late, stuck in traffic.

March 25, 20187 yr I’ve never been to a game at Bryant-Denny. Looking forward to seeing how it is there.

March 25, 20187 yr Chipper claims the only hang up is Texas potentially restarted their rivalry with Aggy. That man will do or say anything for clicks.
March 25, 20187 yr 1 minute ago, Dbeasy said: Herman must feel confident about getting this program back to elite. A lot can also change between now and whenever the series actually occurs. Imagine if this home-and-home had been discussed in 2008 for 10 years in advance. The confidence from the respective fanbases would have been very different.
March 26, 20187 yr Bump, since people still don't know how to use the search bar or even scroll down. I would be very surprised if Saban went for a true home-and-home. He probably wants a Birmingham-Dallas series or some shit like that.
March 26, 20187 yr Hm, then again by the time this series is actually scheduled Saban might be retired. Who knows.

April 19, 20187 yr That is a long time to wait. I am an impatient man. Let's just play them in the playoffs in 2019.
April 19, 20187 yr 16 minutes ago, Machinator said: Yep. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sec/alabama-crimson-tide.php Well, here's hoping we sign with them to come to Austin in '25 and we go to Tuscaloosa in '26.
April 20, 20187 yr With Alabama's OOC schedule for the next several years and including the mighty SECSECSEC west, it's difficult to see them losing more than a game (maybe 2) in a year. Must be nice, yet it's a very boring out of conference slate. But with UT on the rise (I think) we'll give them a challenge, right?
