October 2Oct 2 That’s getting fairly close to an A team. The starters, at least. Who’s missing? Adams, Dest. Pepi, probably.
October 2Oct 2 Sands has reportedly been playing well. My sister knows his mom (maybe from college), so I’m pulling for him to be good enough to play in this window.

October 2Oct 2 I wish we could list off some CBs that were missing, talk about slim pickings after Richards, who has been playing really well for Palace.

I was just listing guys that could be on the roster next year. Who knows what's going on with Gio. Apparently he's injured again.

No. Gio won’t be on the team next year. He can’t stay healthy because he doesn’t put in whatever time stretching and strengthening is needed to be fully fit, so he can’t run full speed. But occasionally he gets close to top speed and then injures himself again. He isn’t worth tithe spot.
October 3Oct 3 QUOTE: ESPN journalist Jeff Carlisle asked about Atalanta midfielder Yunus Musah and Borussia Monchengladbach defender Joe Scally missing out on the squad during today’s press conference. Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t too pleased with the question. “Next time, you provide your list or your roster and after that, we can debate,” Pochettino answered. “I’m not going to talk because we never give explanations about players that are not with us.” “When you’re asking me about players that are not in the squad, that’s because in your mind, you believe that they have the right to be here.” “We need to respect the players in the 26 [amount of players called in]. If not, we are going to start asking social media about why not one player or another and decide.” “I don’t know, maybe you can ask me why [Lionel] Messi is not in the roster. Those types of players, [Diego] Maradona or Pele. But when you’re talking about different names, you need to respect players that are here.” Watch the video here: https://x.com/scuffedpod/status/1973850237472280721/video/1 :UNQUOTE

October 3Oct 3 Absences: Unavailable due to injuries are the PSV duo Sergiño Dest and Ricardo Pepi and Atletico Madrid midfielder Johnny Cardoso. Jack McGlynn underwent foot surgery after being injured last weekend with the Houston Dynamo. Tyler Adams will not be with the team because his wife is expecting any day.

October 8Oct 8 Rug literally glued to his scalp. There's a video of that actual application. He leaned into it.

October 9Oct 9 Do we have a U20 World Cup thread? Or have we been posting here? Spanish speaking Italian scored a brace for the USA vs the original motherland. ESPN’s report: https://www.espn.com/soccer/report/_/gameId/759738 Edited October 9Oct 9 by Napoleon

I know either @Ted Lange or @Knoxtnhorn likes the developmental stuff more than I do.

October 10Oct 10 I hadn’t been watching the matches, keep forgetting they are on. Looking at FotMob lineups, there are a few names I recognize, several MLS rotation guys and Cole Campbell who’s on Dortmund. Cole keeps making Dortmund bench but hasn’t gotten many minutes. Final 4 looks fun. USA plays Morocco next
October 10Oct 10 Some musings on tonight’s match. Ecuador defense is insane. 18 WCQ matches, 5 goals allowed. Also their FFIA ranking is getting close to moving them to a Pot 2 team, so they are likely gonna be playing to win. It isn’t just some friendly to go thru the motions. Assuming Pulisic isn’t playing, getting a single goal here would probably be surprising.
October 10Oct 10 Tonight’s USMNT Starting XI vs. Ecuador: 24-Matt Freese, 3-Chris Richards, 4-Tanner Tessmann, 8-Weston McKennie, 12-Miles Robinson, 13-Tim Ream (Capt.), 17-Malik Tillman, 18-Max Arfsten, 20-Folarin Balogun, 21-Tim Weah, 23-Aidan Morris It’s about time that Asian[sic] Morris starts over Christian Pulisic!
October 10Oct 10 Weah playing RWB and Weston up top with Flo and Tillman. Uh, ok. According to the broadcast interview with Weah. Also, TNT coverage is light years ahead of shitty fox sports
October 11Oct 11 Stadium looks to be about 70% full. Lower level looks more respectable than the upper level. Nearly gave up a scoring opportunity off the kickoff. We appear to be in full Scrambling To Put Out Fires mode.

October 11Oct 11 Balogun looking active so far. I like whatever Poch is doing with him. Edited October 11Oct 11 by tokamak
October 11Oct 11 I’m watching in Spanish and I’m not fluent but I can pick out “treinta y ocho anos Ream”
October 11Oct 11 That guy was faster than Richards. We have been playing pretty well, but we’re down 0-1.
October 11Oct 11 Arfsten with the header dummy on their keeper’s clearance. Furk! I thought that Richards had hit the post, didn’t realize that their keeper had made a great save.
October 11Oct 11 Considering who we are missing, we are playing much better than expected. The goalkeeping is the difference in the score line so far.
