Deuce calling out the sparse crowd... There's no energy in the stadium at all.

Granted it's just now 5pm there at the end of halftime, but still... Weak sauce.

American sports fans would MUCH rather stay at home/ go to a bar/ go to Vegas to watch Day 1 of the NCAA Tournament than go to fucking Inglewood to watch the USMNT play fucking PANAMA!🇵🇦

Mexicans will stroll in and fill the place up for game 2, but…

I once got pulled over for being white in Inglewood, I don’t think that I would go there for a semifinal vs Panama.

ACTUAL EXPLANATION September 1998:

Nappy B: “I was wondering… why was I pulled over?”

LAPD: “Have you noticed that you’re the only white people around here?”

PS- Weah is fast as shit.
PPS- This game is pretty fucking boring.

I'm wondering why they can't have 1 game at SoFi and the other at the Rose Bowl. I'd assume they'd make even more money, and can start one game right after the other - extra time or not.

Sargent would have finished that breakaway.

Weah and McKennie have looked like shit with their touches today.

Fire Pochettino?

Or do we keep him because he has led us to the 3rd place match?

EDIT: How did Adams miss that?

Edited by Napoleon

Just like the Argentines did to England in 1986. Won by 1!

Hilariously pitiful.

😅

yes

I fucking knew I should have waited to get tickets for Sunday. God damnit

I am not holding out hope that the USMNT makes it to the Quarterfinals.

Just make it out of the group and everything after that is gravy.

All depends on the draw of course but out of the group would be a W.

BTW Chile's continuing fall is amazing with another loss tonight. All the "minor" CONMEBOL teams are clowning them.

Also on Pacific time. Game started around 4pm on a Thursday in LA. Most people still working or caught in traffic. Terrible scheduling.

I know I lean optimistic, but I actually saw a lot to like in this game. The one caveat, and the most important, is finishing. Simply put, their striker finished his chance and ours didn't and that was the difference.

I thought our press was good and led to some great possession.  Our play down the wings was great with Pulisic and Weah and led to some great cutbacks that should've been easy goals from Sargent and Agyemang. Agyemang should've finished his 1v1. Sargent did finish off one chance that got called for offside.  I really do feel that if we could just find a consistent finisher, then the sky is the limit for this team, because the buildup play was very good for most of the game.

Chile is NOT a traditional CONMEBOL power. They won their only two Copa Americas ever in 2015 & 2016.

The 2010s were the greatest decade in Chile’s history. They started with Bielsa instilling the run until you drop mentality and then he was replaced and their Golden Generation led them to World Cups & two Copa America shootout titles over Argentina, but they have never been much of a soccer power.

Yea they definitely catered to the Mexican team fans. The Canada team bus was stuck in nasty traffic leaving the Intercontinental as I was leaving the office.

Took my kindergarten son to a pub to watch tonight. He told me he doesn’t even want someone to say a word that begins with the letter P tomorrow because he’s so mad at Panama. Sad but proud of him at the same time.

This was a weird game. No way we should have lost this, but I do think this game shows how much we miss Dest and Jedi if we’re going to have Adams in the middle against a bunkering team. If teams are going to bunker, Adams’s value goes way down. I would have like to see Gio in the middle for 20 minutes. He’s way more likely to break something open.

Who is the 4th best conmebol team historically?

We should have more than 5 shots in a game - Puli, Weah, McKennie, Musah, etc

We had 12.

I missed most of the game, but I am shocked to not see Gio get any time. The guy is kind of what you need in a game like this. That he didn't play was kind of baffling, IMHO.

You didn’t like crosses into whatever?

But it’s what these kids know.

Don't get me wrong guys - this loss sucked, but a few things to hopefully get you all off the ledge:

1. This isn't our full squad. We were down a bunch of first teamers. Let's be fair on this.

2. We have a long way to go before the World Cup. This team is only now learning Poch's scheme

3. We are still less than a year of having Beerholder's stink on this team. Let's give this all some time.

Yeah, this sucks. but I have faith we'll figure shit out.

Fucking Mexicans are winning 1-0 in the 70’.

Just turned it, but there appears to be a full crowd and a Mexican rolling around in the pitch.

This. Just this. Happy to discuss, but I know the soccer dads on here will neg bomb me to Bolivia (did they win?)

Fucking Panama? It is time we need to ask ourselves some real questions about how we approach the sport.

Maybe we should have hired Panama’s coach.

Who were we missing from the A team other than Jedi? Pepi, maybe? Don’t say fucking Balogun.

Pepi and Balogun are our best strikers when healthy, both were out. Dest also hasn't played in over a year. Having him would have been very useful in breaking down the bunker. Johnny would have also been a nice option to have as well.

It's really tough to say we didn't dominate the game when you look at this:

I'm not going to get on the negative train quite yet, but if we see this team get punched in the mouth against Canada on Sunday, the alarm bells will be going off for me.

BTW, WTF is Ream doing here?

Mark a man, dude! Maybe the man with the ball? Made zero effort to close out that shot.

It's called ball watching. End of a game you gotta keep your mind right - he had a brain fart.

And honestly, you gotta wonder if his move back to the MLS combined with his age isn't affecting his play. And frankly, he isn't going to be there next year - he's old. He had his run in 2022, he won't be on the USMNT except as the last man on the bench in 2026.

Let's also not let Scally off the hook here, he has to get back after the pass is off at 0:04 and he has to get back quick and into position. He tracks in way too slow and too narrow helping leave Waterman open.

I missed the game which is obviously unlike me - and this isn't a great data point - but we rolled a problematic starting XI out there and it bit us in the ass.

Our depth in the back is still shitty. I don't think Antonee is a better player than Pulisic but he for sure has the biggest drop-off between him and our 2nd string there.

I mean this four consists of a guy playing out of position, a guy that is frankly too old and shouldn't be starting for us, and two young guys who may or may not ever really be worth a shit - and then you have Tanner Tessmann in front of them.

Screenshot_20250322_100630_Chrome.thumb.jpg.4e5a3bb780e142feefa4aae0384bd43d.jpg

That's not an excuse to lose or not finish anything but it's part of the recipe for losing games like this and it's been the case for years now that injuries and unavailability along the back really hamper us.

I would have liked another crack at Mexico but the good news is they get an opportunity to go out there and play a better 90 against Canada.

Who’s excited for Canada?🇨🇦 eh?

My guess is that we would be doing better with Jesse Marsch at the helm than my countryman, Mauricio Pochettino.

I would not have imagined typing that even 2 weeks ago, but I do think that they need someone who takes this shit seriously and who knows how to tap into the national pride nerve.

Thierry Henri stated as much in the pregame just now.  Said it used to be a battle to go against the US.

Bizarre lineup.

Let's go salvage this break.

The crowd looks amazing!

I can’t believe that that many Canadian fans managed to buy tickets off of Mexican fans.

If someone said that this game was being played in late 2020/ early 2021, you would believe them.

I'm trying to figure out what we're lining up in.

There's no way this is accurate.
