Anyone have one?

What launch monitor do you recommend?

Size?

Things you’d do different?

I moved to a new (to me) house last year and it has a smaller garage area for a golf cart that has plenty of height, width, depth for a nice sim. Previous owner used the area as a gym and did some insulating and a rubber floor and an oversized window unit AC. There are just so many options and components it is difficult to figure out where to start.

Would like to keep it under $20k

Well, sir. I wouldn't have the house if it wasn't for you and Thad. Thank you!

Omigod, omigod, omigod, a COMPLETE DOUBLE HUMBLEBRAG!!!  What does it mean???

(Phil and Thad sold me a house too)

I don’t play golf but I looked at some simulators last year or year before that were pretty neat. Some of them were around $10-15k. All I’ve got.

My reddit feed has seen its share of golf simulators lately.  Search around over there for some ideas.

the folks over on the hobbies/2025 golf thread might have some thoughts as well. If i weren't an old, I could prolly figure out how to link it to here. sorry.

Hook 'em!

Surprised no one’s brought up displays yet since it’s such a key part of the setup. You can have the best launch monitor in the world, but if your screen isn’t dialed in, the whole thing just doesn’t feel right. When I started building my sim, I jumped the gun and bought an LG 32GP850-B — a 32" QHD gaming monitor with great color, brightness, and a 165Hz refresh rate. I thought, hey, big screen, high performance, should work fine. But I quickly realized that it’s not at all suited for golf sim use. These monitors are made for close-up desk gaming, not for full-swing environments. It couldn’t replicate the scale or feel of a real shot, and obviously you can’t hit real balls into it. I ended up switching to a BenQ LK936ST projector paired with a SIG10 impact screen from Shop Indoor Golf, and that completely transformed the experience. Short throw, 4K resolution, bright enough to handle ambient light, and the screen can take full shots without any issue. It's the kind of setup that actually makes it feel like you’re standing on a tee box.

Pretty sure nobody on this site would want to put a tv in their hitting bay.

Shit, we’ve got some idiots, but I didn’t think anyone was dumb enough for that.

Right!?

Maybe as a side monitor for scoring/tv purposes, but still, not in the bay getting hit at.

Anyone that’s ever used one knows it’s a pj setup.

I’ve never used a simulator, but I’ve seen a couple and looked at a few because, why not, and I didn’t know a monitor was an option to aim for.

I have a GCQuad system at home on a mostly DIY build otherwise. Your budget will drive the conversation. Happy to answer any questions
