January 16Jan 16 Like most, I know him far more for his role in Major League, which is still one of my favorite acting performances by a non-actor. RIP to a great one.
January 16Jan 16 Absolute legend. When the Brewers and Stros played in the NL central I would find myself listening to the Brewers broadcast. RIP

January 16Jan 16 RIP Legend. He was baseball's equivalent of Bill Walton. Just an absolutely hilarious, down to earth dude. Damn.
January 16Jan 16 Caused millions of smiles, chuckles, and laughs. That's a life well spent. RIP, Mr. Uecker.
January 16Jan 16 I got to hear him a couple of years ago during the playoffs, Brewers vs Padres (?) Anyway, in the previous game, Manny Machado got away with a dirty side that wasn't called, and that day's game was on Halloween. Which spawned this commentary at one point: loud booos coming in over the broadcast Next batter up to the plate. Not gonna tell you who it is. ... We've got forty thousand ghosts here in the stadium!

January 16Jan 16 At every sporting event I go to, and even in some parking lots, I'll announce, "must be in the front row!"

January 16Jan 16 Ambassador of baseball. He made a game that I love even better. RIP. You won't be a visitor in the clubhouse where you're headed.
January 16Jan 16 This was kindof foreshadowed by his announce partner this October when the Brewers got eliminated RIP Bob Uecker. Everyone's funny baseball grampa
January 16Jan 16 Just did the math and there's no freaking way I'm the same age he was when Major League came out. He's looked 70 for the last 35 years lol Edited January 16Jan 16 by Dennis Taylor

January 16Jan 16 RIP Mr Baseball. No doubt my Dad, Uncle and yourself are laughing and having a beer (or more 😀)
January 16Jan 16 I loved him on those old beer commercials. Never took himself too seriously. I always think about this story from Norm.
January 16Jan 16 Such a figure in baseball and culture. Only ever heard great things about him. One of the classic voices of baseball. RIP

January 16Jan 16 Damn, this one hurts. Didn't he regularly call or do color for playoff games or other non Brewers games from time to time? I feel like I have distinct memories of hearing him in action but could be a mandela effect after Major League and the commercials. I went down a Ueker/Major League rabbit hole some time ago and saw some interviews where he said most of Major League was scripted but he contributed and some of it is improvised. I always liked the details of his calls in the movie. "Haywood swings and crushes this one toward South America. Tomlinson is gonna need a visa to catch this one, it is out of here, and there is nothing left but a vapor trail." "Heywood leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair. When this guy sneezes, he looks like a party favor." "We don't know where Hayes played last year, but I'm sure he did a hell of a job." "That looked like the Terminator, only slower. Maybe it was the Outta-Stater? Or it could have been the Hibernator... that baby's definitely going away for the winter. However, for Vaughn, it could be See-ya-later; he's probably going to become a Spectator." Edited January 16Jan 16 by 'stache
January 16Jan 16 God, that clip with Johnny Carson is hysterical. The team photo with Uecker and Bob Gibson holding hands is just the best thing ever. Edited January 16Jan 16 by jimmyjazz

January 16Jan 16 GODDAMMIT!! From his many appearances on The Tonight Show, Miller Lite ads, MNB and that garbage Major League, he was a one of a kind. RIP, Bob.
January 16Jan 16 If you have access to FS1 On Demand, they have a 30-minute show called Mr. Baseball: A Life in the Front Row that came out a few months ago. Worth your time.
