We are heartbroken to announce that Brewers icon & Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Uecker passed away today at the age of 90

Like most, I know him far more for his role in Major League, which is still one of my favorite acting performances by a non-actor.  RIP to a great one.

Absolute legend. When the Brewers and Stros played in the NL central I would find myself listening to the Brewers broadcast. RIP

He must be in the front row!

RIP to one of the best!!

He already had one foot in the grave and a size 16 shoe on a banana peel.

RIP Legend.  He was baseball's equivalent of Bill Walton.  Just an absolutely hilarious, down to earth dude.  Damn.

I got to hear him a couple of years ago during the playoffs, Brewers vs Padres (?)

Anyway, in the previous game, Manny Machado got away with a dirty side that wasn't called, and that day's game was on Halloween. Which spawned this commentary at one point:

loud booos coming in over the broadcast

Next batter up to the plate.

Not gonna tell you who it is.

...

We've got forty thousand ghosts here in the stadium!

At every sporting event I go to, and even in some parking lots, I'll announce, "must be in the front row!"

Couldn't delete the post, I didn't see someone had already posted the Miller Lite commercial.

Ambassador of baseball.  He made a game that I love even better.

RIP.  You won't be a visitor in the clubhouse where you're headed.

This was kindof foreshadowed by his announce partner this October when the Brewers got eliminated

Bro when I tell you I am SPIRALING #brewers #mets #baseball #mlb #uecker

RIP Bob Uecker. Everyone's funny baseball grampa

Just did the math and there's no freaking way I'm the same age he was when Major League came out. He's looked 70 for the last 35 years lol

The difference being that you could listen to Uecker without your ears bleeding.

I loved him on those old beer commercials.  Never took himself too seriously.

I always think about this story from Norm.

Such a figure in baseball and culture. Only ever heard great things about him.
One of the classic voices of baseball.
RIP

he crushed all his miller lite commercials. his Radio HoF speech is one for the books

Brewers came to Houston in 2013, my first year with the Astros. Saw Bob Uecker on the field, by himself. Introduced myself. We chatted for 20 minutes, just me & him, about broadcasting, baseball, & comedy. Will never forget it. RIP Ueck. I know you’re in the front row somewhere.

Bob Uecker's appearance on Johnny Carson were always must see TV. Here he is on The Tonight Show, going over photos of his career, including the famous Bob Gibson photo. 😂

During a rain delay one night in Arlington, I asked Bob Uecker if he had 5 minutes to talk about Pudge Rodriguez. Uecker said sure and talked about Pudge -- and life -- for a half-hour, just me and him. Bob Uecker was America's treasure, not just baseball's.

Damn, this one hurts. Didn't he regularly call or do color for playoff games or other non Brewers games from time to time? I feel like I have distinct memories of hearing him in action but could be a mandela effect after Major League and the commercials. I went down a Ueker/Major League rabbit hole some time ago and saw some interviews where he said most of Major League was scripted but he contributed and some of it is improvised. I always liked the details of his calls in the movie.

"Haywood swings and crushes this one toward South America. Tomlinson is gonna need a visa to catch this one, it is out of here, and there is nothing left but a vapor trail."

"Heywood leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair. When this guy sneezes, he looks like a party favor."

"We don't know where Hayes played last year, but I'm sure he did a hell of a job."

"That looked like the Terminator, only slower. Maybe it was the Outta-Stater? Or it could have been the Hibernator... that baby's definitely going away for the winter. However, for Vaughn, it could be See-ya-later; he's probably going to become a Spectator."

God, that clip with Johnny Carson is hysterical.  The team photo with Uecker and Bob Gibson holding hands is just the best thing ever.

From his many appearances on The Tonight Show, Miller Lite ads, MNB and that garbage Major League, he was a one of a kind. RIP, Bob.
