Definitely not about the money.

It seems that he and Milwee couldn't agree on whether to be "QB Co-coach" or "Co-QB Coach".

So he's been on staffs with Choate, Saban, and Schiano and has Houston/Texas ties. Not going to act like this is some no-doubter but seems like it can work just fine to me.

My sweet Lord. Reading the thread since the Muschamp hiring is borderline exhausting. Some of the hawtest takes on this recruiting board, ever, on here between pages 45 and 48. I was quoting posts at

  • This is a Nansen hire. He was behind the surge last year to bring him on as an analyst. The plan to hire him has been in place for a while, and if Blake would have stayed and Terry still left they wou

You shouldn’t believe it, because it’s bullshit. That would make him the highest or close to highest assistant on a roster where we already have a qb coach. 2 qb coaches, honestly.

The guy has spent one year with what I assume was Joe Morehead at MSU and never coaches south of Columbus otherwise lol

No overlap with Sark, who has his literal right hand man at QB coach. But sure. He's gonna eject that guy into the sun for this guy he barely knows?

That's actually MORE likely than him turning down 2 million dollars from anywhere else to stay on at tOSU making $475k

I believe the above poster is making a joke about how that AI slop article referred to Flood as our WR coach

Wide Receivers coach?

The same "jaw-dropping" phrase as used for the Ohio State guy?

Sure, that may seem a bit sketchy, but the rest of the post rang true to my ears:

Quote

Despite the eye-popping figure and the prestige of joining one of the big powerhouses in College football, Kyle chose loyalty over money. In a brief statement released by Texas Athletics,Flood said:
”The Longhorns isn’t just a job—it’s a mission. The culture we’ve built here, the people, the players—this is where I want to be. The rivalry means everything, and I’d rather be on the right side of it.”

Really cool of Flood to not leave our struggling backwater of a program in Podunk, TX for that big powerhouse. Plus, the rivalry means everything.

honestly that’s pretty cool that he’s staying, and for less money, too.  he loves sark and this university.

People believed the Iliad was a factual telling, and that's one of our first written pieces in western culture. It's often challenging to parse truth from fiction. It's especially difficult when it lines up with how we view the world in the first place. Not everyone has the bandwidth to employ critical thinking (I don't mean that in a judgmental sense - merely an observational one), and there's always the possibility of becoming a Cassandra type figure when you do, then you're socially ostracized whether you're right or not.

I think it's more realistic in the Emperor's New Clothes to think the kid was taken aside, beaten and exiled than it is to think he changed everyone's mind about what was really going on.

On a personal level I'm completely full of shit in real life settings. It's amazing the amount of far out bullshit people will buy simply because I say it with a straight face. I'm not even trying to lie. I'm saying something outlandish and then I'm astonished someone believes it. Most of the time my reaction is to double down and see how far I can take it.

Michigan State and Jonathan Smith add member of Texas staff

By Doug Samuels        Aug 4, 2025

Jonathan Smith's construction of the Oregon State program from 2-wins in year one to 10-wins in year five at his alma mater is a big reason why he brought to East Lansing to get Michigan State back on track.

After winning five games last season, narrowly missing bowl eligibility, Smith and company return a junior at quarterback who completed nearly 60% of his passes last season, as well as some key pieces around him to go along with some critical additions from the transfer portal heading into year two.

With all his coordinators returning and the vast majority of the staff back for a second season with the Spartans, Smith has made a hire from a College Football Playoff program to bolster his support staff.

Michael Morales, who spent the past three seasons on Steve Sarkisian's staff at Texas, has joined Michigan State as a player personnel analyst.

With a significant background in data analytics, Morales has worked in player evaluation and football operations as well.

Prior to joining the Longhorns staff, Morales spent time working for Pro Football Focus where he focused on statistical analysis.

Is it time to fire up the OC/QB coach wish list? Idk if obtainable but Will Stein (prob a HC soon), Shannon Dawson, and Kirby Moore seem interesting. Maybe Buster Faulkner from Ga Tech.

Idk where to start in terms of NFL guys but seems like a lot of schools have had success with that route

Miami HC about to be fired

I think we should bring in David Cutcliffe to unofficially replace Milwee for the rest of the season.  That's someone Arch probably trusts and whatever Milwee is doing is making things worse.

It's crazy that Arch has suddenly forgotten how to throw the ball.

With his uncles and GF all taking an obvious interest in his development,  it makes zero sense

It's at least the 3rd straight year of QB's with mechanics going all wonky.  Milwee has to go.

Pretty sure Anthony Hill looks a bit less explosive this year. Torre Becton and the entire S&C staff must go now.

Abject failure!

We don't know whats wrong with the player and we don't know exactly what this coach is doing or what he is responsible for but we do know that he should be fired.

I would argue that at 71, Cutcliffe is entirely too old. But we just hired 68 year old Duane Akina so maybe not.

Barry Lunney from Illinois seems like another interesting OC name. Spent 2 years at UTSA before that

Malzahn is looking good at Florida State

You can't just say, "This OC is having success there, let's hire him!"

Georgia Tech is heavily reliant on a battering ram at QB. Haynes King this year already has 44 carries compared to 48 passing attempts. This would not be an easy transition from our current offense or the way that Sark wants to play.

Malzahn is doing great at Florida State, but his offense is basically contingent on having a dynamic runner at QB... He's had several QBs whose run threat was frankly more dangerous than their pass threat. Again, that would be a big departure from the offensive identity that Sark wants.

In the last two seasons, we have seen absolutely horribad QB mechanics.  Arch looks magnitudes worse than he did last year.  He can't make the simplest of throws. His beautiful, accurate deep ball is nowhere to be seen.  He's not even in the ballpark on deep throws.  He looks as bad as Ewers did.  His footwork is bad, he's not getting his body aligned to throw.  He's making panic stricken throws that go in the dirt, or behind the receiver etc..  His regression is shocking.  He looked no better in week 3 than he did in week 1.  Whoever is in charge of managing the QB's needs to be relieved of his duties.  They either don't know how to help him or they are incapable.  2 years of terrible QB mechanics is enough to know something is rotten AF.  I don't know if Sark is running the room or Milwee.  I also don't care.  Whoever is doing it is fucking it up.

Cutcliffe is a possible short term fix, ala Greg Robinson when Manny got canned.  The Manning family probably has deep trust in him.

If they lose faith in Sark, a new OC isn't going to solve the issue - he will likely transfer somewhere else.

I'm just thinking unofficial QB coach... help him get his mechanics under control.  If he's not technically a position coach, I don't think he has time restrictions with Arch.

David Morris is and has been Arch's private coach since elementary school - and was Eli's coach before that.  He doesn't need David Cutcliffe

So we can conclude it’s 100% AJ Milwee that has fucked his mechanics and should be fired immediately after our last game.

Edited by BurntOrange&White

You're allowing him 8+ more games before he gets fired?  How very un-surly of you

Fine.  Hire Morris to operate out of Austin for a while and work with Arch in person.  We're in fucking deep shit if Arch can't pull it together.

Well our season could be over after this weekend depending on Arch 😢

We have to forfeit the rest of our games??? Damn
