You just mentally blocking out that arguably the worst game our OL and QB have had... was at home? Against UTEP? "You can't expect year three players to perform well in a hostile environment like their home stadium against a satellite school!" Seriously. Stop stop trying to make excuses for what has been horrible OL play for basically six years now. People losing their minds saying the program is about to completely implode do need to be slapped back into reality a bit but offensive scheme, QB development and OL development have been objectively awful for years now and a direct roadblock to our success. We are building a level of talent around the program that we can consistently have great seasons in spite of all of this but most of that was serious overachievement by specific units on the field that cannot be asked to replicate that every season. Brother we are throwing a fit because we were gunning for it this year. 10s of millions have been spent to avoid a down year. They looked at the offense and thought to themselves they had a championship team during the off-season. Can't tell me an offensive performance comparable to Shawn Watson is good enough. No fucking way.

October 22Oct 22 Popular Post Regarding the assistant coaching discussion, here are some thoughts from my end: -Flood's not guy driving the bus regarding the approach to OL blocking, according to those familiar with the practices. He didn't forget how to coach overnight, either. So firing him is probably something Sarkisian does in order to save face after the season. -Sarkisian is a poor OC as a HC. The numbers bear out that he's generally done a mediocre to shitty job and that isn't going to change with a new OLC. One of the biggest issues with Sarkisian's offensive approach is that it is finesse-oriented. That's just not going to fly in the SEC against the athletes they're facing on everyone's front 7s. With the most talented OL Texas has had in decades last year, they often struggled to run the ball against good defenses. Point is, for the OL to really improve, Sarkisian's approach needs to change as much as anything. Seems unlikely. -Milwee needs to go. Sarkisian needs to hire an independent QB coach with actual skins on the wall. No QB has gotten better at Texas during the Sarkisian era. Not one. 2 of the highest rated QBs of all time have gotten to campus and not improved. One got drafted as an afterthought in the 7th round. The other has become a laughingstock and an accidental meme generator and he's embarrassing himself on a weekly basis. That's all on Sarkisian in some form, but he's not going to fire himself. He needs to fire his buddy and hire someone who can call him on his bullshit and coach the QB room. -What are we seeing and learning from Chris Jackson? Do we see WRs getting better? It's somewhat hard to discern with the OL being historically terrible while the QB is constantly either running for his life, shitting himself or doing both. -Too early on Huff. -I don't see anything happening with Banks and the TEs actually seem like they're improving with reps.

October 22Oct 22 So if Mike Locksley gets fired at Maryland, would it be a good idea for Sark to hire him as an OA since Sark refuses to get an OC? At one point, he was the Broyles Award winner as an OC for Saban and knows what it takes to be an OC in the SEC. It doesn't fix Sark's issue of seeing himself as the best OC option at Texas when the numbers don't reflect it, but maybe Saban can suggest this guy as someone who won't be a yes-man and Sark will actually take the advice.

October 26Oct 26 Add Akina to the chopping block honestly. The defense has been really good in a few games sure but most of the time that secondary is as easy for WRs to penetrate as Sark's wife.

Yeah he fucked up this offseason with this "NFL-style" experiment and not addressing the OL, but he crushed the two offseasons before that. If he is willing/able to admit the new approach failed, he can turn things around just by doing what he's already done. That's very different from hoping someone does something completely new. The only reason he'd be fired is if his personal life has truly spiraled to a point of no return, or if he insists on keeping everything the same (lax offseason schedule, weak portal effort, etc). No insight on the former. I highly doubt he'll leave the OL unaddressed again. I hope he's aware/humble enough to revert to the old offseason schedule but wouldn't be shocked either way.

We're in year 5 and some things need to change. Maybe that's just a change to how practices are run, maybe it's giving up playcalling, or maybe it's even more drastic changes to the staff, but we need to see him do work to keep the ship afloat. If he does nothing - despite there being glaring issues with the program in contrast to the standard he has set - then that is an extremely negative data point. Maybe then we can talk about whether it's time to move on. But it would be ridiculous to not give the man a chance to course correct after all the good work he's done. People try new things, sometimes they don't work out. People are loyal to their friends, and that's a good thing, to a point. You have to give some grace and remember that we're all human beings. We can have high standards and still be reasonable. Unfortunately, Sark has got an ego and he's extremely stubborn. I could easily see him sticking with his process and staff because of some "I'm the head coach and we're doing it my way" bullshit. At that point you start thinking exit strategy, but it needs to actually get to that point first. As to all the shit flinging around about his personal life, that just reeks of frustrated fans being overly credulous about rumors because they're angry. I'm sympathetic, but it has jumped the shark.

October 30Oct 30 I don't care who is behind the OL, Flood is still the guy recruiting the 3* scrubs (aside from a literal hand full) instead of the 4/5* that we should be getting. We aren't fucking tech. Someone has to be held accountable. Banks and Williams fell into our laps because Cristobal left Oregon, we should be sending him a gift basket. Campbell is the the only guy who has looked decent. Everyone else, so far, have grades of 65 all the way down to 30, and a 0.00 somehow. Banks, Majors, and Williams are gone, and we are abysmal. They made a panic move putting Brooks in for Stroh after Napier was whipping our asses instead of putting in a mean mf'er like Neto, or even a guy like Kibble who is a RS-FR who plays G, and we were all told Flood likes to play around with his line to see who can fits well and where, and yet they panic, and instead of putting in a natural G, it's nope, let's throw another tackle in there to make 3 tackles and 4 Guards (Hutson and Robertson are not centers no matter how badly whomever is behind the scenes wants them to be). It literally took 4 games before the coaches realized that Stroh was beyond abominable. I don't care about Hayden Connor, he wouldn't make a difference on this year's team. So if Flood isn't driving the bus regarding blocking, he's still the guy recruiting. He literally recruited and signed Stroh. Possibly the worst lineman we've ever had. Go look at our roster, we have ten three stars and four/five (depending on service) mostly 4 stars (Neto 4*- doesn't play for whatever reason RS-SO; Campbell 5*- SR; Baker 4/5* - RS-FR; Chatman 4* - injured RS-SO. That's it. That's the list of anyone above 3*). Here is a list of 3 stars that have played, and only 1 has shown the ability to block -. Trevor Goosby RS-SO (average to below average this year with an overall grade through 8 games of 61.7). He's basically our only 3* that's worth a shit. Some service grades him at an 81 (doubt), another at 75 (reasonable), but still overall he's a 61. Maybe it's his fingers hand issues, because he looked phenomenal late year when Banks was out, but so did Arch for Quinn 🤷♂️ grades out as a backup, but I also put in the 71 and he's starter level. Connor Stroh RS-SO as a comparison has a grade of 51.7 - considered "replaceable" per PFF Hutson grades SR out at 55 on both blocking and pass pro - considered "replaceable" Connor Robertson RS-JR grades out at a 33 - considered "very poor at everything and replaceable" Our true C is sitting on the bench, just like our 5* WR's and other play makers. Just go take a gander at how shitty we've recruited at the OL position alone. So we have a guy recruiting these mid to below average players, and apparently someone else driving the bus? I don't care who is doing what with this position, they should be fired the day after 8/30 Anyone on here excited about a Jackson Christian, Devin Coleman, Jordan Coleman, Andre Cojoe, Payton Kirkland already transferred and is at his 4th school, more Connor Stroh, Malik Ago transferred, Connor Robertson? 4 players are still here from the 2022 class - Campbell, Neto, Hutson, Robertson It will take at minimun 2 years to get an above average offensive line if we hire someone who can recruit and develop, because a group of Kelvin Banks ain't walking through that door. So who's ready to see some 3* Max Wright, baby? 3* Nick Robertson (underrated) But we do have John Turntine III, who I hope pans out. 247 had an article about how badly we evaluated and missed on OL and basically someone didn't want to make an effort, so they settled on what you see every Saturday. I don't have a sub, so let me know if you want me to link it here.
