So he's been on staffs with Choate, Saban, and Schiano and has Houston/Texas ties. Not going to act like this is some no-doubter but seems like it can work just fine to me.

My sweet Lord. Reading the thread since the Muschamp hiring is borderline exhausting. Some of the hawtest takes on this recruiting board, ever, on here between pages 45 and 48. I was quoting posts at

I think Texas fans need to get used to the idea that Flood is coming back next year. If that happens and we see below average line play in Arch’s final year, it should cost Sark his job. He is allowing the person who sank the 25 season to come back and if it does not work out, I’m no longer blaming Flood. I sure hope Sark knows what he is doing.

The only solution to portal such a good OL that Flood being the OL coach means little.  I put that at low odds but we will see.

The top 15 OT recruits are littered with dudes around 270-275. It isn’t some unheard of thing. But yes it won’t be a quick change. Most OTs aren’t starting as freshmen, Kelvin Banks broke some of y’all.

Well, again, not saying I’d like him to stay and there’s great potential options. Hell, we all saw that Drevno had to be brought in already to help. My statement is only in the case that Flood does stay.  Flood staying has its own implications for Sark’s tenure and they’re not great

Well let's hope Drevno has a seamless transition. This dude knows what it takes, from what the coaches think they can get and where to find a comparable is a huge key difference between the two. Drevno has worked under Harbaugh thrice, he can recruit at a high level (Stanford vs UT for linemen, and we always lost), Michigan, who built their bread and butter punishing teams with the run, and he has NFL experience.

Flood has no actual lines worth talking about before 2019, unless you want to talk about being hired by Atlanta and was sent packing, along with Sark to be molded by the GOAT. As for his two seasons at Bama, who knows who can really take credit? How do you go from being under Saban's thumb to lucking into Banks and Williams when Cristobal showed why he's incompetent. He did land Baker for RT, and I assume Brooks for LT. Campbell has gotten better over his four seasons. Tackles are good, it the IOL that has been...we'll see. I think Drevno has the better upside.

So we get a 260lb IOL  that should be a TE for our next great tackle? Time? Well, Flood has had 4 years to get our next OL in place. If he can't be fired for cause and his terrible recruiting.

This is the dumb fook that wasted 3 years developing Stroh and trotted him out as a starter. Does it take 3+years to teach a huge dude - low center of gravity, push the guy in front of you down or at least away. It's not like he had any pulling guard tasks. It's see guy in front move him away.

M. Lee was the unicorn this cycle.

Flood can be shitty and Turntine still be a perfectly fine future tackle recruit. Flood wasn’t fixing this quickly with the 2026 recruiting class regardless. If Lee was starting at OT here next year we’d also be fucked, and we may still get him. Portal will make or break things for 2026.

Portal needs for OL after 4+ years. Would you survive in job with that? I wouldn't. Look at the bread flood recruits and huge misses. That's elite? If I give any employee 4+ years to do a job... it's either perfection or fired on the spot. Lee was a one year training guy. Turntine is a many years and hope.

I agree with you. I’ve literally only been contesting your Turntine handwringing. My job has nothing to do with recruiting OL so I’d be safe yeah.

well stated @Hank_Hill. My anger isn't towards you or any other Longhorn. I've given too much money, etc to see incompetence.

Why is it not OK to require the portal to fix OL but not DL?  We routinely get portal DL. Meanwhile, plenty of playoff teams have portal offensive linemen.  Look at Miami.  Cristobal is regarded as an elite OL guy and their OL is really good.  He has two transfer OL starting, including James Fucking Brockermeyer.   It’s way more likely to need the portal than not to be able to field an elite OL.  It’s the hardest position to project and develop.

Then he should have portaled in each of the last 3 years for a OG and maybe a RT. They flat out refused to portal OL until they were forced to. Pointing out DL when the guy who was initially here is no longer here isn’t a good argument

Basically your point is there are no expectations for the line coach because it’s really hard. Yet somehow 90% of teams in college football are managing that difficulty better than we are.

I think his post is responding to the idea that needing portal OL is an issue. The product on the field is a known issue, and the portal is a resource that should have been utilized last offseason at the position.
Evaluation might be the bigger issue, but he’s done a decent job of that at OT, so maybe we just need someone else to handle the IOL.

You believe that 90% of all teams in college football manage their offensive line better than us? Thats going to be news to about 75% of college football teams.

And of course that wasn’t the point of the post you responded to, but you know that.

That you have any money to give suggests you’re fundamentally ok with incompetence

That really not the argument against Flood. OL is tough to evaluate coming out of HS. Misses can happen. The real issue is Flood had in depth knowledge of the OL group coming into the 2025 season and he did not go into the portal to shore up the holes. I would add his personnel decisions were inexplicable

Massive 2025 OL roster evaluation failure by Flood/Sark and folks in roster personnel group.

Seems like a good time for CDC and Sark to beef up the general manager and player evaluation group.

LSU fans will line up to applaud Wilson as a recruiter and stone him to death as a coach.

CJ Vogel saying that Pete K has been wanting to get back to the PNW where he has spent most of his life and coaching career.   Wonder if it is just a situation where the job had run its course and a very desirable replacement was now available.

Then they would have put it out that he resigned to go back home.  Not been fired.

Either this will be brilliant or Texas is in the coaching carousel in a year.
