24 years as the ND cornerbacks coach under multiple head coaches is impressive.  Gotta be some kind of record.

He's almost Akina old then

My sweet Lord. Reading the thread since the Muschamp hiring is borderline exhausting. Some of the hawtest takes on this recruiting board, ever, on here between pages 45 and 48. I was quoting posts at

  • This is a Nansen hire. He was behind the surge last year to bring him on as an analyst. The plan to hire him has been in place for a while, and if Blake would have stayed and Terry still left they wou

Is it an agent? Who else gains from that shit getting out?

Ding ding. It is close to 100% certainty that Anwar would be used in a raise play by an agent trying to get his client an extension after a CFP Championship appearance. The fun fact is that the morons at orangebloods will gobble this shit up in the same hog traugh that ketchum both eats and serves them in

Per Bobby after speaking with someone close to the ND program:

As of this morning ND does not know what Mike Micken has decided or will decide at this time. There is "some level of concern" at ND regarding Texas potentially hiring him away.

Sounds kind of promising?

Seems like there is more to it than a coach looking for a raise as least.

I thought he just got a raise and title/role bump?

Or a coach looking for permission from his wife to move from a place they have been for at for a few years all the while during the little vacation time they get to be home.

Found this from a ND fan on Reddit

In the comment section of this post the general feeling was that if he was passed over for the DC job that the likelihood of him staying there is slim.

Anwar reporting Mark Orphey from Rutgers will be the new safeties coach. Don’t see a tweet from him but he posted it on the site.

He's from Texas and has the Montana State and Bama background, but in terms of performance... feels like a stretch. Baker seems to working out though, so who knows.

Dang I was excited about Mickens, but knew that it was a long shot. I think Freeman is as well liked in the coaching community as Sark.

Glad we can go to our old reliable and get another Rutgers coach

My favorite Jay Valai moment was when he was late to offer and failed to land Deuce Harmon in the 2021 class after being Harmon’s trainer several years earlier.

A cornerbacks coach coaching safeties? I assume OB has it mixed up and Joseph will move to coaching safeties.

Well the safety coach position is what is technically open, but that’s what I’m assuming too

If Sark hasn’t done anything else, he’s earned grace with hiring coaches! He must know something we don’t but he’s gained my trust

There is no grace.

He's done a great job hiring assistants so far. Not impressed with this one, but there have been plenty of coaches I'm unimpressed with that end up being spectacular. Heck, for a while there Pete Kwiatkowski seemed like a big mistake. I was completely wrong there. Now I'm ecstatic we have him.

FCB got a quote from Choate on Orphey

"Sharp, low-ego, high-output guy," Choate told Horns247 on Wednesday night in regards to Orphey.  "Works at developing relationships with recruits and their parents. He'd taken chances to move his career forward. Great person, and I know he is happy to be back in Texas!"

So he's been on staffs with Choate, Saban, and Schiano and has Houston/Texas ties. Not going to act like this is some no-doubter but seems like it can work just fine to me.

Lots of folks here shit-talked Anwar on this name a couple of days ago. I'm no Amwar defender - just an observation.

New guy is a North Shore alum. Maybe that pays off in recruiting.

In his three seasons at the helm of Rutgers' cornerbacks, Orphey helped develop several cornerbacks into standout Big Ten players, including current Arizona Cardinal Max Melton along with now-former Scarlet Knights Robert Longerbeam and Eric Rogers. Current Jaguar Christian Braswell also earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in Orphey's first season in 2022.

Schiano is a good defensive coach to learn from.

It should also be pointed out that Schiano is pretty hands on with coaching his DBs and came up as a DB coach, so our new guy may not deserve ALL the credit for developing those pros

Eww...he feel jiAggish? He was a teammate of Chykie Brown. Let's see what the players say about him. Maybe we should have gone ahead and brought back Akina instead of this guy.

If you're on the ledge over a DB coach hire when Sark has basically nailed every assistant hire he's made, then that's your own fault.

I mean, to be completely honest, I hear Funk Doctor Spock is on the ledge, my first impulse is to go ahead and push him off.
