UT football: Bobby Wuensch, anchor of 1969-70 national champions, dies

“When we came back for our senior year and had to run 13 minutes on a treadmill, I ran 13.000 minutes,” McKay said. “They had to make him get off after 45 minutes. They told Bobby, ‘You got to slow down.’ But there was no slow down to it with Bobby.”

Texas' Bobby Wuensch (50) blocks against Oklahoma in 1970. Wuensch died at age 77 on Sunday Jan. 19, 2025.

Bobby Wuensch and Mike Dean were my heroes on that '69 team.  RIP to a great player.
