He knows that means Defensive Coordinator and not Denny's Connoisseur, right?

Maybe, maybe not.

With Gideon leaving, can we money lure a former Horn DB to take the legacy lead?  I want Huff!  But there is a whole gang I would be thrilled to have on the 40.

What is going to happen the first time an important player starts limping during a 4th quarter drive and feels the need to tough it out for his team, and ends up getting hurt worse?

Will Lane Kiffin just trot out a walk-on and have him fall over whenever his team needs a breather?

I see some potential issues with that rule.

Or guys will try to hobble off the field on their own so it isn't an official injury.

It'll probably end up something akin to targeting where there is some sort of subjective referee judgment or review process.

Just my opinion, but the last thing we need in this sport is more judgment calls from referees or reviews.

Yeah, I don't want referees reviewing whether someone actually sprained an ankle or tweaked a hamstring.

And I could not agree with you more.

I'm just thinking through the alternatives to determine real from fake, and how to avoid penalizing the real deal. I'd imagine the solution is nuanced instead of flat standard across the board.

every time the game stops for injury the player has to wear this the rest of game and season to show the world what a faker he is.

Tough shit. We need the rule change. Upside outweighs the downside.

Shit, I’m like less than 10% on the personally gay scale and I’d wear that proudly. Need a real deterrent for faking injuries.

Coach: see that cheerleader over there, son?

player: (smiles)

coach: it ain’t broke, get back out there.

"Injured" player sits out the drive is one of mine from the 2019 LSU bullshit.

Wrinkles to this include visit with Sideline Doc to approve return, and/or sitting out the quarter, or X minutes of game clock. Players would have to leave the field immediately, only emergency treatment on the field and player experiencing the emergency is disqualified from further participation. Limited number of personnel allowed on field, no sideline gathering for coaching - or whatever - while in "injury time", no coaches onto field for the same.

You want to coach 'em up? Call a timeout, Coach.

On the other hand, visiting teams would be allowed to bring their own HVAC repairmen.

Oh, and if a ref is going to stand over the ball and not let the play start, then the play clock stops and either restarts or goes back to 25 when D subs are in. Under this, the game clock doesn't run when the ball is not ready.

Should have a crew of dwarves dressed like nurses come out with a defibrillator and if the guy isn’t up and off the field before the play clock runs out, they give him the business on the injured part.

Position coaches taking big promotions elsewhere is a good sign for the staff. Go make a strong hire, Sark.

Absolutely; if Sark’s doing a good job hiring position coaches this shit’s going to happen…

Justus Terry allegedly weighing in at 290lbs this week. I think the speculation of him starting outside was exaggerated. I bet he’s a well put together 300-305lbs by September. Nick Brooks is also slimmed down to the high 320’s and moving great, OTF think he makes a run at backup RT. Sarks staff seems to evaluate at a high-level, not too many misses.

The reports on Terry's current weight are all over the place. Hamilton said the other day he's 270-275, which is why we're starting him off at edge.

Im with you on sitting out the drive. It could enhance player safety as it takes a bit to medically clear players than what is currently allowed. Upset about it, call a timeout.

The refs can also stop play for players “toughing” it out, and then they wouldnt have to sit out a whole series.

That’s encouraging on Brooks’ weight but I doubt a true freshman is going to beat out players who have been in our system for three years. Until very recently there was a debate that even would end up a tackle.

These guys write up a good story. If I continue living, I’ll be fatasizing a way for Kalen De Boer to get us there. If not, Hook ‘em!

Good Player / Average Player  / Bad Player

Loved           Bijan                  Ehlinger               Swoopes

Divided       Simms              Applewhite           Kai Money

Hated         E. Acho                 Hager                B.J. Foster

Notes:

  1. I tried to limit selections to the beginning of Mack Brown's tenure or later. There are too many players going too far back otherwise.
  2. There are hundreds of choices for the "good player / loved by fans" spot. Colt, VY, Ricky, Ced Griffin, DJ, etc. etc. etc. I just picked Bijan because he's the most recent favorite.
  3. It's hard to find an actual bad player who is loved by fans, and hard to find a good player who is hated by fans. I loved Acho while he was at Texas, but have really lost any affection I had for him during his broadcasting career. With Swoopes, I actually think he was a good athlete but a bad QB. He stepped up for us and played out of position, and I love him for that. But he was not a good QB.

tOSU away and then three straight weeks of Little Sisters of the Poor, and then a bye is not the most dynamic scheduling, I'll be honest.

It’s not but a bye before SEC play is pretty nice
