I usually hate 11am games but I would much rather play in Columbus early than a night game to start the season.

Dunno what the temperatures will be like up there in Columbus, but if those gottdam clueless TV assholes schedule any of the Texas home games for noon or afternoon time slots during August & September should be staked out at the same time on the pavement of San Jacinto Blvd.

So true but 11 is still better than the 2 to 6 window.

Kind of interesting to see ASU actually try for a change. Though in all honesty they weren’t really trying when they hired Dillingham, they just got lucky. Turns out he can coach a little bit though.

Yeah.  Look, we've been waiting for the "Quiet Giant" to wake up for decades, but I think Dillingham is the right guy at the right time.  Helps that a bunch of his staff are former AZ HS coaches that all won a bunch of state championships.  There's like 3 of them, plus Ward the DC is a valley guy and Arroyo just got burned on starting the UNLV rebuild before being fired so someone else could win with his guys.  They've got a ton of investment from the coaching staff, not just NIL managing to keep the roster intact.

Which one is the Jeff Traylor that all the ASU fans are pining over to become HC one day?

The shittiest part of the noon kickoff is tailgating is fucked. No one wants to go at 9-10AM to tailgate for an hour then walk into the stadium early.

We had a pretty good turnout for Michigan, but it would have been far better if it was a later game.

I still haven't decided what we are doing in Columbus yet...

None of 'em.  They're hoping Dillingham's a lifer.  He's from the Valley, went to ASU, got his first college job at ASU, etc.  Think he's still the youngest FBS HC, or at least "power conference" head coach.  Dude's in his mid 30s.

The noon kickoff last year in Ann Arbor was one of the coolest games we played all year. Definitely the only time I wore multiple layers last season.

Good. Fuck Ohio State, fuck their shitty fans, we'll beat their asses early and we can celebrate the rest of the day and night.

We caught a break. Let's kick their ass then party from afternoon to night whilst watching the rest of the games.

This hurts the home team more than it hurts Texas.

That didn't work out so well for Tennessee.

Going to be a tough one against UK this year, guys

He makes $9mill/year to go 4-8. Who has it better than him?

247 has Arch and Wingo as the #4 duo in the country. Don’t agree with the ASU tandem being #1 but that’s not the point. Seems fair, sure hope Wingo takes off next year. He sure had some flashes, hoping he can deep posts/ins like Roy and house them.

But Ohio State is away from Texas.

In terms of actual proven production combined with room for growth, seems like a decent top pick.

Spring training week I spent in Phoenix/Scottsdale was one of my most favorite week of vacation spent in my adulthood.  Wife and kids didn’t appreciate it as much, but I fed them dinner at area restaurants and the kids got to swim at the hotel, while I watched baseball.  They did join me for over 50% of the time, but “practice” baseball got old on them after about 3 days and let me go by myself.

Hook’em!!!

Wrigleyville?

Texas has 7 players in the On3 top 100 players for 2025 - the most of any team

No. 10: QB Arch Manning
No. 43: CB Malik Muhammad
No. 45: WR Ryan Wingo
No. 90: OT Trevor Goosby

Well you read ESPN for college football news so that was your first mistake

Went North of Phx/Scottsdale to see the Rangers and Royals for a day.  For a Texan, I was glad I brought a windbreaker, as once it got shady, the temps dropped.  Not SF cool, but glad I brought more than T-shirts/shorts, and flip flops!

I'm not good at math, but if Texas has 7 of the top 10, it would be hard for any other team to have more.

Few team notes picked up recently: The freshmen

Have spoken with a few people the last couple of weeks with spring ball having concluded. Here is what I picked up along the way.

1. OTF had already mentioned that the staff really likes both freshmen DT's - Myron Charles and Josiah Sharma. Sharma's name came up again late last week as having a very high-ceiling.

2. Don't sleep on running back James Simon. He was very impressive this spring. Three down back ability.

3. A source called Nick Brooks a "future 1st round draft pick".

4. Lance Jackson was mentioned again. The size and athleticism combo is one thing, but he answered the bell in terms of physicality. Justus Terry is seen as similar and Texas loves him, but is not the same in terms on NFL Combine testing numbers as Jackson.

5. Cornerback Kade Phillips upside was mentioned once again. Possesses high NFL draft pick potential.

6. Nickel Graceson Littleton has high-end quickness and closing speed. That was seen on the field in high school, and known when he signed with Texas. But his ability to learn and take it to the next rep and field early on really impressed.

7. Was told QB KJ Lacey was very impressive this spring. Ability to learn quickly, react quickly and see the field with much bigger lineman in his peripheral impressed.

8. Tight end Emaree Winston was mentioned again. Ball skills in the passing game. A willing, physical blocker in the run game.

9. Was told for a second time that safety Zelus Hicks was impressing prior to a minor tweak that limited him for part of the spring.

Other notes...

Kobe Black had a quality second half of the spring. He made key strides, and that presents possibilities of Jaylon Guilbeau playing nickel if that's what the staff deems best.

Alex January had a very good spring. On track to be an NFL prospect.

Daniel Cruz is on track to be a very good center at Texas. Continues to receive praise behind the scenes.

I checked On 3 this morning for some recruiting info only to find Aaron Murray and Tommy Tuberville being little cunts.

Murray is not sold on Arch because he didn't start last year.  Low info hot take

Tuberville was whining, specifically, about TX' NIL advantage.  Whiny bitch didn't complain when Auburn was buying players or have issues with abandoning Tech recruits in the middle of a meal.

We're not far at all from articles with titles like "Would Texas's freshman class be a playoff contender on its own?"
