How long until Jeff gets summoned to the Oval Office to have a little chat?

My wife works for an American manufacturer in one of their luxury goods subsidiaries. They have already done a 10% price increase and will be doing a subsequent 18% price increase next month. The original plan was to line item these separately as tariff costs, but they changed course last week due to a fear of retribution from the regime.

Both those asshats are seeing where the wind is blowing. Bezos lost a few billies and Elon's baby is down 70% in sales. They are figuring out what a bunch of people from his last admin could've told them had they been willing to listen which is only Teflon Don comes out unscathed.

You'd have thought these braniacs who've done so well making money could've figured out between: a) a solid, high percentage chance to continue on with the 80 year old US lead world order and make a ton of money for sure, or b) a tiny percentage chance to manipulate an uncontrollable person to get all the money.  Greed won, they chose (b) and now they're finding out.  So fuck them.  We get fucked too, but fuck them very much in the goat ass.

Something fucky is going on over on Bluesky.  A lot of posts about this (Amazon to show tariff costs to consumers) seem to be intermittently showing as deleted.  Another one here (but seems to have the same issue):

Apparently God-Emperor Trump has declared it "a hostile and political act."  I guess we'll see shortly if Bezos has any balls ...

Just glad they aren't changing the label to the "Biden Tax" or something.

Just let all the prices go up.

This estimate will be labeled and hostile and political act.

Pretty sure I can already tell you the answer.

It would be fascinating to watch the most powerful man in the world learn how tariffs work in real time at age 78. If it weren’t horrifying, and if I thought he might actually learn something.

What's the problem with this?  It's a tax and should be listed like a sales tax.

Remember during the election when Dotard was asked about rising child care costs, and he said that tariffs would pay for them? Good times. He was elected president a month or so later.

It should heretofore known as the "Trump Tax."

Sort of.  I don't think he likes trump but he definitely saw which way the wind was blowing.  Preventing the WaPo from endorsing was particularly cowardly.

Yeah, I don't think Bezos is as firmly Team Shithead as Elon and Zuckerberg, but he definitely backed Trump when it suited him.

And he's about to be on the list of people who've done business with Trump and not gotten the end they thought they'd get.

It's bizarre, all these really smart people expecting that it'll be different with them.  Pure ego.  Yeah, you're the one person who can do business with Trump and not get fucked over.  Sure.

That was another nonsensical answer for which they were not punished in the least.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how to interpret exactly what he said.

He's a middle aged white dude, small-medium business owner, Fort Worth suburb.  Probably Trumpy.

His comment could be interpreted as I'm one of the orange mongoloid's loyal soldiers fighting it out against Jynna and our other enemies.

Or, I'm getting fucked in a trade war that we and I didn't want and didn't start.

Probably both. Oh well, leopards gotta eat too.

Has President Huff & Puff lost his stuff?
I don't see him out making outrageous claims every day (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day), or has the media grown tired of reporting on all of the noise?  And to repeat a point from last week, if there are 75-100 tariff deals to be made, with countries begging to get off the tariff train, why aren't we hearing about any new deals or seeing a parade of leaders coming to kiss the ring? (answer: because no one is buying the noise that he is selling)

Love all the hand-wringing over Bezos bending the knee.  The rubes and everyone else are still going to get hit with a huge price increase on basically everything we buy.  Only one fucker ran around saying he would lower prices on day one.  The rubes won't give a shit, but plenty of other dumbasses will.

Having "Tariff Tax" written out in every Amazon shopping cart full of cheap plastic toys for little Kayla's birthday would have penetrated the masses more than just any mechanism currently available in our society.

Which is why it was never, ever going to happen.

It wouldn't have made one shit of difference.  Karen would skip right past that line item.

I vehemently disagree. Directly associating Republicans with brand new taxes is about the only thing that would be considered damaging to their brand. Way more than misplacing a few brown people of defying a few court orders (those are pluses, after all).

Exactly. As of right now any price increases are falsely blamed on Biden's economy.

You're kind of making my point for me. Where has that stuff been exposed up to this point? CNN? The Atlantic? No one gives a fuck. Amazon, podcasts, YouTube, reality shows...that's where America (sadly) lives.

Tune into his rally in Michigan today. I’m sure you’ll hear plenty of outlandish bullshit.

And there aren’t any deals. That’s all bullshit too. Do you not know how this works?

The only real threat he seems to hold is to primary you with a lunatic candidate. If you aren't a pol, who cares.

Otherwise he just talks stupid shit online and with the occasional unconstitutional EO.

You need to give up this fantasy that the clueless/spineless morons in the democratic party are capable of rising to the moment. Their political impotence grows by the day.

We'll see. A few of them clearly want to step up. We need to follow them and tell the others to fuck off. Then people will see where the wind is blowing.

Or not. But it is up to us to make them, they sure as fuck won't do it on their own.

Other than that whole threatening note taped to your office door with a picture of you walking your dog taken from a drone thing.

Or the magats breaking into your house with hammer thing.
