what? check now. I'm messing with a sample embed card.

yeah now it's an embed that doesn't fit on mobile

X is not embedding. Been about a week now. Not working on PC running chrome, or iPhone/ipad running latest iOS.

Because he disabled Twitter embedding.

Thanks. Did not know that and hadn’t seen that discussed elsewhere. Reason?

add surly to any x embed and it'll embed.

https://surlyx.com/user/status/12513258 will load up the tweet if it exists and paste a screenshot.

Twitter embeds were shitty and terrible for site performance and I have had a mostly hate relationship with them for a while. Then the owner did a nazi salute and I don't associate with nazis.

Alrightythen. Thanks.

agreed. Though a ton of old posts are broken now. Is there any solution? I understand it might be a lot of trouble to go back and convert the embed to these images, so maybe at least convert them to just links if that's easier to do?

Also any chance to make the images clickable to watch the video and make the twitter link easier to share?

You need to copy and paste surlyx as plaintext are you on mobile or desktop

If you aren't using the app, just go to the urlbar and type surly in front of x go to that it loads and copy paste that URL. This is getting fixed soon anyway.

Really sorry to be a nuisance, @immamac. Thanks for embedding that video.

I can’t post a url unless I open the link icon, which posts the link, but doesn’t embed a video. If I try to paste a url into the response field, there is no effect. Nothing happens. On an iPad.

I’m on iPad Safari as we speak.

Just copy the YouTube URL, which you know how to do, paste it here, then hit return one time.

And there you go.

Yeah, it’s easy.

The hang up is that paste achieves no result, unless I paste in the link icon.

When I hit enter, after pasting with no result, that is, hitting enter to the blank screen makes my cursor go down a line. (Actually two lines).

It’s borked.

Edited to say my eldest will like the video, as the paste function works in text.

🤷🏻‍♂️
