I fully expect blacklab to come in here and “clean up” this thread in a bit after his and the other mods get inundated with DMs and reports from the pussies who get their fee fees hurt every time someone challenges their worldview

If imamac allows that I will be very disappointed given the censorship occurring on other social media platforms and now even in legacy media (actual news dickheads).

It’s beyond time people stop catering to them here and in real life. Don’t like it fuck off to TexAgs or SEC Rant or some other shitty website

Just noticed this was moved to a standalone thread Hahaha you fucking pussies.

Exactly!

Imagine instead of a military chopper it was a civilian airline. People would correctly be calling for the CEO's head. This shouldn't be any different.

The head of the FAA, Mike Whitaker, resigned on January 20 — one year into his 5 year term — after facing relentless criticism from Musk for not approving SpaceX missions quickly enough. The Senate confirmed him unanimously in 2023. No acting FAA head has been appointed.
"Obviously it is not standard to have aircraft collide. I want to be clear on that." -- Sean Duffy, our new secretary of transportation in the new awful administration.

This needs more daylight. There's been a history of close calls at DCA, and in 2024 Ted Cruz forced an authorization for more flights to DCA by attaching it to the FAA funding bill in 2024 -- despite opposition from local officials and safety groups who warned the airport was already overloaded 🧵
For context, DCA is federally operated, so congress has power here. A near miss betw a Soutwhest and JetBlue flight in early 2023 kicked off concern about the airpot being overloaded during an air traffic controller shortage. Congress considered a bill to expand flights, it was rejected. (cont'd)
In May 2024, the FAA Reauthorization Act went up to the Senate. Despite clear warnings, expanding flights to DCA was attached to the national reauthorization measure without any safety provisions. Ted Cruz opposed even giving DOT approval over flight expansions. (cont'd)
“Every federal and regional entity involved in operations at DCA [DOT, FAA, MWAA] warns of negative impacts for safety, and delays...from these changes. Ignoring these ... is foolish and dangerous. We strenuously object to added traffic at DCA, which is already dramatically over capacity.” (cont'd)
This is a tragedy that we will take years to understand the full story of. While the President blames DEI, it is clear that Senate Republicans' cavalier disregard for public safety stretched an already overburdened airport even further. They must be held to account. (receipts below)

Why?  We all know that the only reason anything bad ever happens, including this crash, is because minorities and women exist and have jobs.

The literal President of the United States just told us that.  So, case closed.

Not just because there was a woman present and she worked for the DoD, but ALSO because there was a gay guy in charge of DoT and maybe also because there are some not-straight-white males working in the FAA.

I get you’re in a tough spot and I’m not going to berate you. But quotes from and clips of elected officials, cabinet members current and past, and for the goddam president are absolutely essential to a discussion of the current events here and they should not have been moved to this thread, nor should subsequent posts be placed here instead of the other thread and I say fuck those loons if they don’t like it. They want a safe space let them go somewhere else

It is always difficult to try to divorce current events from politics, and more so than ever now.

The fact that this happened in the middle of Trump downsizing federal employees and the fact that he is trying to pin it on the previous administration and bringing up DEI (for some reason) are part of the story.
