Nope. Dude jumps from 25K feet without a parachute and lands into a net.

That was on live TV two years ago.  It is still crazy today though.

Yeah, there's another one out there of a guy who jumps out of a helicopter with a wingsuit and lands in a pile of cardboard boxes. All pretty crazy.

That’s awesome.

Then there's also Vesna Vulović:

Vesna Vulović (Serbian Cyrillic: Весна Вуловић; pronounced [ˈʋeːsna ˈʋuːlɔʋit͡ɕ]; 3 January 1950 – 23 December 2016) was a Serbian flight attendant. She holds the Guinness world record for surviving the highest fall without a parachute: 10,160 metres (33,330 ft). Her fall took place after an explosion tore through the baggage compartment of JAT Flight 367 on 26 January 1972, causing it to crash near Srbská Kamenice, Czechoslovakia. She was the sole survivor of the crash that air safety investigators attributed to a briefcase bomb. The Yugoslav authorities suspected that Croatian nationalists were to blame, but no one was ever arrested.

So that’s a HANO jump?

More like a 'Hell no' jump.

He was way too close to the edge of the net for my comfort. The reaction shots would have been GIF material for eternity if he had missed.

So she was saved by the air bags fun bags being deployed.

Fixed.

Then there's Alan Magee - On January 3, 1943, his Flying Fortress—B-17F-27-BO, 41-24620, nicknamed "snap! crackle! pop!"[1]—part of the 360th Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group,[2] was on a daylight bombing run over Saint-Nazaire, France, when German fighters shot off a section of the right wing, causing the aircraft to enter a deadly spin. This was Magee's seventh mission.

Magee was wounded in the attack but managed to escape from the ball turret. His parachute had been damaged and rendered useless by the attack, so he leapt from the plane without one, rapidly losing consciousness due to the altitude. He fell over four miles before crashing through the glass roof of the St. Nazaire railroad station. The glass roof shattered, mitigating the force of Magee's impact. Rescuers found him on the floor of the station.

Magee was taken as a prisoner of war and given medical treatment by his captors. He had 28 shrapnel wounds in addition to his injuries from the fall: several broken bones, severe damage to his nose and eye, lung and kidney damage, and a nearly severed right arm.

Magee was liberated in May 1945 and received the Air Medal for meritorious conduct and the Purple Heart. On January 3, 1993, the 50th anniversary of the attack, the people of St. Nazaire honored Magee and the crew of his bomber by erecting a 6-foot-tall (1.8 m) memorial to them.

I think that was the first time I watched a “live” stunt and actually thought that a guy was about to kill himself.

What did Magee do to get the medals?

The neighbors kids told us about it (they were older) and we turned it on outside. The next thing I know everyone was on the patio watching it. I am not gonna lie, I was terrified my young children were gonna watch someone die. Not one of my finest moments as a parent. Could have gone way way wrong.

General badassedness during combat?

I wonder if the guy that jumped did the same thing as Steve biscemi did on Armageddon. Borrow a ton of cash and spend it on hookers and blow hoping he’d die.

Jumping out of a plane without a parachute is almost as dangerous as fucking your mom without a condom

Didn’t see this but did see the crazy fucker jump out of the stratosphere or whatever. I watched that with my mom and by the time he jumped My heart was at about 150 bpm. I thought there was no way the guy would live.

That, and the Purple Heart was sort of a no-brainer considering his injuries.

They show his heart rate at 148 bpm at 16k feet. I wish they would have kept that up to see what it jumped to when his boys pulled their parachutes and he was alone at 3k feet.

i think the guy's heart rate was pretty much the same as mine and i was only watching it.  after the fact.
