That may have been some shoddy reporting. The cockroaches part may have been a misunderstanding of the term roaches.

NPR is finally on the story. Think the government is bloated and wasteful? Pay attention.

Quote

A former employee of the Department of Government Efficiency says that he found that the federal waste, fraud and abuse that his agency was supposed to uncover were "relatively nonexistent" during his short time embedded within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Yeah, I don’t immediately understand the judge’s ruling. Anyone speak LA Federal judge, and care to explain?

It's not a judge's ruling, it's a jury's and they tend not to explain their reasoning.

But, reckoning around the issues, it seems that the jury accepted that "pedo guy" was a statement of opinion and not an allegation of fact.

One weird factoid, notorious MAGA lunatic Lin Wood represented Unsworth, this before the surrender of his law license.  Elmo was represented by this other kind of lunatic at Quinn Emmanuel. Alex Spiro.

I’ve been listening to Malcolm Gladwell’s newest book Revenge of the Tipping Point, and there is a chapter about Philip Esformes, who was convicted of Medicare fraud in 2019. He owned a bunch of nursing homes in Florida and had a kickback scheme, bribes, prescribing narcotics to keep people in the nursing homes, etc. It was a $1.3 billion dollar case that was the largest Medicare fraud case in history, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

He was pardoned in December 2020 by none other than Donald Trump. It’s especially rich that he talks about finding and eliminating fraud and waste and then when the government has caught a guy for doing just that on a grand scale, Trump pardons him. Motherfucker you had one.

Stick with me here, but it was NEVER about the so-called """fraud and abuse""". It's always been a justification to do authoritarian fascism, and get the useful idiots on their side.

Searched for the "Elon Musk" thread, couldn't find one, so this will have to do.

It’s in Daily Texan

Received this email from Social Security overnight.  I'm almost afraid to look.  I like how the word "statement" is repeatedly italicized, for some reason.

Dear Francisco:

Your Social Security Statement is streamlined and easier to read than ever before. That is because we have redesigned the Statement to provide you the most useful information up front and at a glance.

We encourage you to check your Statement at least once a year to review:

  • Your earnings record (to make sure it’s accurate and notify us if you see any errors);
  • Your personalized monthly retirement benefit estimates (which now display how much you can expect to receive depending on when you decide to start your benefits between ages 62 and 70);
  • Other useful information that will explain your benefits and help you prepare for your financial future; and
  • New fact sheets that provide additional information based on your specific age group and earnings situation.

You can access your new Statement by signing into your account at socialsecurity.gov/reviewyourstatement.

Now that you can access your Statement instantly and anytime online, we will not automatically send one by mail.

We hope you find your new Statement useful and informative.

In the arms of Big Ballz,

Fly away from Doge’s shame,

Nineteen with our secrets—

Elon let you play the game.

You uncovered no savings,

Just chaos, just pain—

All that waste and abuse

Still there, still remains……..

Edited by Dnaguy

I’m sure our nation’s secrets - which Big Balls has has access to - will remain in good hands.  I would be nearly impossible for an adversary to honeypot this 19 year old incel.

‘Big Balls’ Is Now at the Social Security Administration

Edward “Big Balls” Coristine’s placement at the SSA comes after a White House official told WIRED on Tuesday that the 19-year-old had resigned from his position in government.

https://www.wired.com/story/big-balls-social-security-administration/

Translation: While at DOGE, Big Balls located a weakness (or created a backdoor) in the SSA system so that he can embezzle tens of billions  (or trillions, if he screws up the decimal place again) over the next few years while "working for" the SSA.

Complete clusterfuck.  And extremely expensive.

One might even call it “wasteful”. Or even “fraudulent”.

Somehow, the democrats are responsible for this and must pay!

It’s important to understand that efficiency was not the goal, the goal (as with almost everything) is to demonstrate that the president has complete power that he can exercise arbitrarily and to accustom Americans to the idea that it’s normal.

This.

The current regime is testing boundaries. They don't need results today, they just need to know the extent to which we've given up.

Grabbing people off the street is allowed, so we're pretty close to done, anyway.

Under this regime, the human suffering is the leading indicator that their plan is working.  The cruelty is the point, and the suffering is the metric.

They don't do anything to help ANYONE except the oligarch class, and the way they show that they're doing SOMETHING is.....hurt literally everyone else.

This community voted for Harris.

Edit: Never Mind. Looks like Trump won that precinct by one vote, 50-49.

When asked, the WH agreed that DOGE no longer exists. Did it accomplish anything but create chaos and unnecessarily scared govt workers that they were going to be fired, if not prosecuted for fraud.

DOGE was a scam.  One of its goal was to look for things to privatize such as the USPS and to dismantle the government.

Why?

But...but...but... all that "fraud, waste, and abuse." Wasn't that super duper important? Isn't the defecit and nat'l debt unsustainable?

LOL, stupid fucks, got played, yet again, including dipshit posters in this very thread. "How come you support fraud waste and abuse."

Dumbest people alive. Come on back y'all, come tell us how super duper important it was for this administration to eliminate fraud waste and abuse?

And accept your medal.

The idea that Donald Trump was concerned with “waste fraud and abuse” was always hilarious. Waste fraud and abuse should be his nickname. It describes him perfectly.

We even had the media, what we would call normal media, parroting that shit. “Donald Trump’s new crusade to eliminate waste……”
