February 4Feb 4 I think it's Jokic. I love Timmy but he doesn't really belong in the convo. I'd swap him for Wilt or Shaq.

February 5Feb 5 I voted for MJ. I think Steph Curry has a case. Jokic will be the answer in three more seasons at his current (or close to it) production.
February 5Feb 5 Sheesh. Maybe I’m wrong about the Jokic thing. MJ has 10 damn scoring titles Edited February 5Feb 5 by MrX
February 5Feb 5 Good thread, tough one to answer. I only feel confident in Tim Duncan not belonging on this list. There's a good argument for Bird. Leaning that way right now.
February 5Feb 5 Harden would have a case if he wasn't such ass in the playoffs and turned the ball over less.
February 5Feb 5 As with all things Basketball, it largely depends on what rules you're playing under. Steph isn't a game changer if he was playing in the 80s, even if he wanted to put up as many 3s as possible. I'd pick Wilt as the best offensive player ever based on the type of rule changes they made to stop him. Among other things, I believe they widened the lane and banned dunking on Free Throws to stop Wilt. For Jordan, the NBA got $mart and changed defensive rules to showcase him.
February 5Feb 5 It was hard to pick out of MJ/KD/Wilt. I went with Jordan. If I needed one bucket to save my life I would want Kareem.
February 5Feb 5 I love Tim, he was a great offensive player, but the only way he’s getting a vote is if someone misreads the poll and is choosing him based on how “offensive” it is that he’s on there with those other players.

February 5Feb 5 i have to go with the joker. his efficiency is unreal. he creates and scores at the highest efficiency i have ever seen, in the highest/greatest offensive period of the league. Other players are better scorers, sure, curry with space/3s, MJ with 1 on 1 scoring, same with kobe. But if you value playmaking it pushes Joker over the top. He is a walking instant NBA offense all by himself. Put 4 average offensive NBA Jags on any of these players and tell me who gets their team the most points? Its joker.
February 5Feb 5 1 hour ago, ztejas said: Surely Bron deserves a mention, too. He's 2nd, imo. So here is how I look at it... Jordan played in the 80s when hand checking and beating the shit out of the guy with the ball was celebrated. Jordan played in the 90s when the NBA had a, "Wait a minute, this shit is actually entertaining when it's not hockey." Jordan came out of retirement in the 2000s, as an old man, and scored 20ppg. It took Kobe 20 years to do what Mike did in 15... and Kobe was the shit. Steph Curry would have been murdered in the 80s. Derek Harper wouldn't have let Curry cross half court... ever. KD would have been a center or PF in the 80s... They'd call him Lil Sampson. He would be a deadly mid-range jump-shooter. Lebron would have played in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, etc and been Lebron. Luka is next up if he gets his body right. Dude is a fucking problem on the court. (That is 'jive' for very fucking good.) Michael Jordan would be the scoring king if he started in the 2000s instead of the 80s... because he would have averaged 50ppg and been able to play for 20 years instead of 15.
February 5Feb 5 I don't see how you could watch the last Olympics and pick anyone except Steph. Jordan was by far the better all around player, but Steph edges him on the offensive end. What he does to space the floor is just incredible.
February 5Feb 5 1 hour ago, Slacks said: Steph Curry would have been murdered in the 80s. Derek Harper wouldn't have let Curry cross half court... ever. Steph Curry moves better off the ball than just about any player in history. Derek Harper would have been run through about 10 screens before Curry got wide open 3s. Just like he does today.

You have 4 guys, I have 4 guys... Jordan and Jokic walk into the gym. It's your pick... First bucket wins. Last bucket wins. Most buckets win. Who are you picking? Edited February 5Feb 5 by Slacks Oh, and Jokic is a baller for real.
February 5Feb 5 Hard to go against Jordan or Wilt but since I never watched Wilt play I say Jordan. That being said…. “If I had to choose a player to take a final shot to win a game I’d choose Jordan, but if I could pick one to shoot to save my life I would pick Bird” -Pat Riley
October 26Oct 26 He did all of that shit while gambling and drinking and playing golf. He's the greatest player to ever touch a basketball. Two three-peats. With good but not great teams.
October 26Oct 26 Fwiw, I was a Magic Johnson basketball fan. There wasn't shit you could tell me when I was having this argument on campus. I remember being in the Moore-Hill lobby when Magic announced he had HIV. I ran to my room and cried. I'm from Indiana. Magic vs Bird was the greatest rivalry ever (because ou sucks and Peter Gardere gave zero fucks). And Michael Jordan is the greatest scorer ever. Had the 80s/90s game focused on threes, analytics, and calling fouls, he'd have destroyed the record books. Luka would have gotten the shit beat out of him in the 80s and 90s,because teams would figure out he's easily frustrated with contact and the refs aren't calling anything...and at his size he'd be a PF with almost no Assists. ( I think Luka has a chance to be the answer to the question. Luka is fucking cold, man.) Edited October 26Oct 26 by Slacks
October 26Oct 26 Always like hearing stories from old players. Most of the time it’s Much more interesting than their analysis on games, at least for my ears

October 26Oct 26 Author if MJ had grown up with a 3-point line this probably isn’t a discussion (although that would also mean that larry grew up with a 3-point line which means he enters the chat), but for me i still think it’s probably one of wilt, mj, or kd. i still lean towards kd simply because of the size/shooting combination. there’s nobody in history who even comes close. all three are aliens, regardless.

October 27Oct 27 When he gets hot, I don't think anyone impacts the game on the offensive side as much as Steph Curry. It is crazy.
