I hate Torchys. That taco probably sucks. But…I do miss the tortilla fried catfish con queso at Shady Grove. It shouldn’t have worked, yet it was fantastic.

  • Only reason I go to Torchys is when I'm craving a missionary style green chile pork with extra pickled onions. Comes with both a flour and a fried corn tortilla.

Had torcy's for the first time last weekend. Breakfast tacos were way to expensive.

Have changed my mind today about torchy's. Went there for lunch. Place was packed. It kinda sucked. I paid attention to the tortillas for the first time and yeah, they kinda sucked. Plus the dude walked around for ten minutes trying to find my table. Just call out the fuckin number. I'd rather go pick my food than the current system. Also the people that work there are not the friendliest type people.

Has anyone tried the Roscoe TOTM?

Also do they just repeat the same one every year? Saw Roscoe was last March too.

Quite often the same, but occasionally they'll mix it up and bring in a new one.

It will be sad no longer having the original location, as i have lived nearby since the beginning.  I knew the bum, Monk they named the taco after.  Not sure what happened to him.

Queso is still great, but the tacos seem to be suffering as they expand and start to loose quality control.

My favorite torchy’s taco is the “why the fuck is this taco more than $3.00?”. It’s the one where you look at the menu, say “fuck that” and then go to some place called Whateverthefuck De Jalisco in that Rundberg and Metric area and get much better tacos for something like $1.75 each.

I guess i'm the only one who likes The Wrangler.

Seems like Trailer park trashy is too common as a favorite.

#2 is The Democrat

I'd rather have the Crossroads or Democrat and pay the extra for the queso.  By itself the fried chicken is the weakest protein on their menu.

Trashy Trailer Park is obviously a fan favorite, but if that's too mainstream, give me a Wrangler with some diablo sauce on it and I'll destroy that motherfucker.

roscoe is a legit "taco", but consistency will vary.

hopefully they won't make the mistake of switching out the turkey mole taco again. whatever they served instead that one year (last? year before?) was absolute shit.

step up your trailer park.

Trailer Park Hillbilly Style: Torchy’s gauche standby is made even trashier with chorizo and chopped bacon atop the usual fried chicken tender with green chilies, queso and ranch, served on a flour tortilla.

I usually get 1 Democrat and 1 taco of the month. If I've already tried the TOTM and don't want it again, then I'll get a Democrat and a Crossroads.

Favorite TOTM is the December taco that has lamb. Last year it was the South Pole, year before was the North Pole.

I had their queso last time I swung through Dallas. Did they change the recipe? It tastes like broccoli cheese soup to me.

That's the film of NYC on your tongue fucking with you

Every year I get the roscoe when it’s the special of the month. Had it two weekends ago at the clear lake location which usually does a pretty good job. It was terrible. The egg was way over cooked. The waffle was over cooked. Just not great.

I always get one Trailer Park Trashy and then at least one more something else.   Normally the TOTM.

I love Torchy's, but Rusty's Tacos is less than half the price for similar quality ingredients, but you sacrifice the inventiveness and sauces of torchy's.  Breakfast tacos at Rusty's are $2.25 and lunch tacos are $2.50 vs $5-$6 for most Torchy's Tacos.  I also love the Happy Hour Good Stuff margaritas at Rusty's.  That being said, I always order the Mad Cow without Blackbeans and the Brushfire and put copius amounts of creamy chipotle and Diablo sauce on both.  My favorite taco is the Scaulding Pig when the "Some Like it Hot" menu rolls out in August.

I really like the Hipster, but the last time I got it, they had mixed uncooked rice into their panko and ruined it. It was an accident on their part, but after biting into that hard rice it made me not want to order it again :(
