I regularly house the crossroads and democrats with seperate side of queso. Also, the beef fajita burrito is underrated.

I hate Torchys. That taco probably sucks. But…I do miss the tortilla fried catfish con queso at Shady Grove. It shouldn’t have worked, yet it was fantastic.

  • Only reason I go to Torchys is when I'm craving a missionary style green chile pork with extra pickled onions. Comes with both a flour and a fried corn tortilla.

The Vagabond tastes OK, but it’s probably my most skipped ToTM.

I like the crossroads tacos. They pack a lot of avocado and jalapeños into it!

May TOTM - Texas Hottie - Cabbage slaw, Texas Hot chicken tender, chow-chow pickled relish with a drizzle of chipotle sauce and honey & cotija cheese on a flour tortilla.

Corn tortillas there are the worst I've ever had. Think about how bad a corn tortilla must be for it to stand out in a person's mind.

I guess if I lived in Iowa or North Carolina, I would eat the shit out of Torchy's.  Just cannot imagine choosing them over the alternatives I have in Houston.  Laredo Taqueria and a million other places have great, fresh ingredients on hot and fresh homemade tortillas.  Cheaper too and less of a wait.

Touchy's fillings are very good.  Their tortillas are some factory made shit you can buy at 7-11.

The Vagabond was good. Liked the flavor of the beef fajita.
Can't wait to try the Texas Hottie. Had a Nashville Hot Chicken at Local Taco in Nashville - its "Fried chicken smothered in our house hot sauce, poblano cream sauce, cilantro, coleslaw and diced wickles pickles". Local Taco is like the hillbilly version of Torchy's. Same kind of hipster vibe.

You try to serve me barbacoa or al pastro on flour, and we're going to have words.

Sack speaks the truth......Laredo is great....and if you are in the Humble/Kingwood area Tita's Taco' House is the truth

Or any seafood. Has to be corn.

Why do they pour some much glop on all of the TOTM?  Some of them sound good otherwise.

Trailer Park Taco is very fitting for the OU sux locations.

He still owes me money.

Bc the tortillas are garbage.

Texas Hottie was decent, but I prefer their normal stuff.

My go to tacos are the Baja Shrimp, Alabama Shake, or Trailer Park.

Will the words we have make any sense?

Who the fuck orders a corn tortilla?

Real Mexicanos.

The Brushfire and the Matador.

I think the Matador is just about perfect.

The democrat add a runny fried egg (must specify runny and fried) is a damn good option.

This should probably go in the unpopular opinions thread, but I’ve lived in Austin since 1984  (was born and raised south of here), and I have never:

eaten at torchy’s

eaten at the Salt Lick (I have had their catered version)

no hopdoddy

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and I've never:

Eaten at Raising Canes

Been to Norman, Oklahoma

Burped on national television

Corn tortilla are great.  They just fall apart.

Give me the Brushfire, chorizo breakfast taco and hillbilly queso.

Had Torchys for the first time Monday, taco filling was all good but the corn tortillas were so dry they overwhelmed the rest. $30 for tacos and queso for 2 was a bit much.

Got the Tokyo Drifter today. I liked it, it was different, but I really just miss last months taco, the Nashville hot chicken one. That taco was perfect except for the fact it was so moist it destroyed the tortilla both times I had it.

Had that Tokyo Drifter Friday.  Wasn't great.  Sometimes when you put too many ingredients together, the flavors clash.  Seems to happen a lot with their ToM.

$13 for a fucking Torchy's taco????

Not even a burrito (which would still be overpriced)..   Methinks they're gonna regret this one.

While supplies last.

$13 for a taco is pretty high, but I may have to try it.

You are part of the problem.

Lobster is overrated to begin with. Crab is better
