I hate Torchys. That taco probably sucks. But…I do miss the tortilla fried catfish con queso at Shady Grove. It shouldn’t have worked, yet it was fantastic.

  • Only reason I go to Torchys is when I'm craving a missionary style green chile pork with extra pickled onions. Comes with both a flour and a fried corn tortilla.

$6.50. $10 tacos by ‘23 at this rate.

Yeah.  That's absurd.  And I would probably try it based on the ingredients.

This was summer 2018 so they’re on track for a $20 taco this year...

Y’all are crazy paying these prices for tacos. Just go to Gerardo’s.

Or just go to the most sketchy-looking  trailer you can find in a questionable neighborhood.

Shitty tortilla.

It is known.

However, if I have to eat one more breakfast burrito stuffed with green chili here in Denver, I’m going to jump off a fucking mountain. Torchy’s has breakfast tacos. Sometimes I pick up some other tacos if I feel in the mood.

Do I need to ship you some of the ready to cook tortillas from HEB?

I would support sending him a whole bundle of Texas stuff if he goes to the Colorado Aggy game in a bevo costume

Anyone know what states/cities they’re targeting for expansion?

With those tortillas and gringo prices, it ain’t Flavortown, USA.

also, username doesn’t check out.

I’ll send you more Torchy’s than you can handle in exchange for some Bowman distillery only picks.

Just opened in Memphis, drove by it and was trying to place the name and then remembered this thread title. Based on the article above, sounds like better days may be behind them but I’ll stop in.

Please @immamac kill this turd of a thread. If you look up gringo in the encyclopedia there would be a picture of me, and even I hate Torchy’s. There are hundreds of thousands of better options in Texas.

Torchy’s would slam in the Finger Lakes. That’s the nicest thing I can say about them.

Not as much as Torchy's shitty tortillas.

Speaking of tacos, we got super cliché and decided to get tacos for Cinco de Mayo because tacos. My wife is from Chicago and is a mega gringa. She's been duped into liking all sorts of shitty places. We can agree on Mundo de Sabor in South Austin, but they were closed because of the fucking weather. Anyway, I conceded to El Chilito and holy fuck those were some of the worst goddamn tacos I've ever had in my life. At least the marg I just made is helping to make up for it.

If they aren't made by some little Mexican woman in a trailer, you're taking your chances.

This is why San Antonio is the winner in the taco debate

I live in Austin off Rundberg. This little area of Austin can at least hold its own.

I’m not a fan of Torchy’s mainly because of the hipster attitude in a chain restaurant. I have no problem with these kinds of tacos; I’m not a purist that a taco has to be some lingua and not much else.

However, I submit a far worse taco experience: Fuzzy’s. This joint went from bad to awful when it was sold to an investment group. Cold tortillas. Feta cheese. Just bad.
