This is embarrassing for the GOP.

What are you talking about? Calling protesters insolent for demanding transparency while suppressing 90% of a nominee's documents is a SUPER good look. Along with pimping the nominee's book during an opening statement. Good fucking lord lol

Nothing embarrasses them anymore.

Don't worry - STEVE FUCKING BANNON'S lawyer got to choose which documents the american people get to see

The questions about his time working for Ken Starr and W. are going to be great.

"Hearings to appoint SCJ are a fairly new thing, we've only been doing them since 1916."

Do these people actually hear themselves speak?

Damn, I think we can get bi-partisan support confirming that the daughter is fine as fuck.

Definitely not Kavanaugh's daughter.  The pic in Retread's post had a link with more details on her:

I love how they keep bringing up Bork, who fired Special Council Cox - who was investigating Nixon.

They don’t even hide their corruption.

Ahh thanks. I'll add her to my hate fuck list.

Sheldon Whitehouse bringing it

Yep - she's got quite a resume trifecta: (1) deputy director of policy and communications for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign, (2) Special Assistant to President Trump for regulatory reform, legal and immigration policy and (3) senior counsel to Ken Paxton.  Wow, if accurate.

There is a 35 month document black hole on Kavanaugh’s history in the White House during the Bush years.  He wasn’t a private attorney.  He was being paid by US tax dollars.

That’s insane.

holy shit is cruz really invoking clinton during his opening statement?? Wowser. They must be nearing the bottom of their bag of tricks.

Why is Kavanaugh even there?

Are they going to ask a question today?

Still going through opening statements from the judiciary committee.

The best part about what Ted Cruz is talking about is knowing that his positions will ultimately be on the losing side of history.

Because conservatism always loses to progressivism in a democracy.

The democracy has to still exist at the end for conservatism to lose.

Agreed, which is why I included the "in a democracy" part. That's key.

This morning they claimed they wanted to after around 2:30, then admitted it would probably be pushed back.

Kavanaugh seems like he's got a ton of skeletons in his closet.

Guys they are using fuzzy math. I mean they only counted the pages

The lack of transparency is a really bad look, but totally expected from the party that leans toward authoritarianism at the expense of liberty.

Yes Ben Sasse, we should be reticent to use power. And we should debate and vote. Maybe we should have a debate with all of the information you fucking moron

Sasse leading in the clubhouse for the Jeff Flake pretty words award.

Sasse is doing the best job among the Republicans on this committee so far.

Which isn't saying much.

One thing that gets lost on all of this shit is the Ivy League strangle hold on the Supreme Court.

That shit has to stop.

Why would it stop when POTUS managed to wrangle a BA from an Ivy and has somehow decided that's an elite club he not only belongs to but should advocate for?

I don't think it will, but I think it should. The jurisprudence of this nation shouldn't be shaped solely by graduates of a small cluster of law schools in the northeast.

I knew that was a fucked proposition when the idea of a SC justice out of UMich was considered impossible.  (Can't remember who that was.  All I remember was "wait, what?")

oooo, basketball coach means a lot for the SC right?

I bet you 90% of the intended audience doesn't understand the reference and I'll be glad if they don't.  They need to actually do their jobs and not be watching TV mini-series.
