Sounds like we have a mental health issue we need to address as a country.

These sick women are a minority and shouldn’t reflect responsible victims.

New here, but that response doesn't address the story that people accusing Justice Kavanaugh openly lied.  This just feeds into Pres. Trump's narrative that everyone lied to derail the nomination since they couldn't defeat him on the merits.  Makes the dems look even worse in this situation---like they will stop at nothing to defeat Trump's nominee.

Senate panel asks DOJ to investigate 'fabricated allegation' against Kavanaugh

Quote

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on Friday asked the Justice Department (DOJ) to investigate a "fabricated allegation" against newly minted Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh from a woman identified as Judy Munro-Leighton.

Grassley, in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray, wrote that Munro-Leighton admitted to the committee on Nov. 1 that she previously lied about an allegation that Kavanaugh and a friend raped her in the backseat of a car.

Grassley requested that Munro-Leighton be investigated for making "materially false statements" and for obstruction of the committee's investigation into misconduct claims against Kavanaugh.

He wrote that Munro-Leighton said she “just wanted to get attention," "it was a tactic" and it "was just a ploy" when investigators pressed her on Friday.

"Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted, contrary to her prior claims, that she had not been sexually assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh,” Grassley wrote.

Investigators began looking into Munro-Leighton's allegations at the beginning of October, after she sent an email to the committee claiming she was the woman who sent an anonymous letter to Sen. Kamala Harris(D-Calif.) in late September alleging Kavanaugh raped her.

Get the fuck outta here.

So no media published the story in conjunction with other Kavanaugh news?  According to the post above Grassley seemed to take it seriously enough to refer it to the DOJ?

Guess we gotta start wheeling away women for "hysteria" again.

I can’t tell if you got the joke or are just building on it.

Substitute “bad guy with a gun” for “women”.

Grassley also refered criminal charges against Christopher Steele a year ago.  Where did that go?  It’s a purely political tactic and has nothing to do with the law. Quit being such a sucker.

Both things are true.

Brett Kavanaugh could be completely innocent of all allegations regarding sexual assault.  He still shouldn't sit on SCOTUS.  He's a serial perjurer.  Game over.  (But as it turns out, the game was called early by the refs, who awarded the victory to the right when the left was ahead.  Funny how that works.)

There is a non-zero chance that Lindsey doesn't really think Kavanaugh didn't assault Dr. Ford and only said that he's convinced he didn't for the sake of political expediency. Just like how he expressed faux outrage immediately prior to removing the prosecutor they'd hired to conduct the questioning. The truth is he doesn't care whether the accusation was true or not. It's more important to get a victory and spin the accusation for the political gain of the party.

Nadler, who will chair HJC, offers a different angle and purpose: investigate the role the WH played in the FBI being constrained in their approach to the Kavanaugh imbroglio.  If it is determined that the WH hid something about BK that was disqualifying as a motive for blinding the FBI, it follows that there could be some accounting for the substance of what was hidden.  But Nadler really emphasizes the need to restore norms and institutions for now and the future, which benefits all of us.

You're going to lose a lot of Trump supporters by using words like portmanteau.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is a woman effectively ruining her own life to falsely accuse somebody. There is literally nothing to gain from it. Now that lady has to deal with death threats and look over her shoulder the rest of her life, dealing with slut-shaming mongoloids like you. Boy, that sure was worth it.

It's a sad world we live in where we hold football coaches to a higher degree of accountability than potential SC justices.

You're a disgrace.

Save it.

How exactly has her life been ruined?  Lost job or money?  Crucified in the press?  She’s a hero and a martyr too many like yourself.

What would be you disposition if the same accusations were levied at your spouse?  Someone in high school claims assault after thirty years but can’t provide a single shred of evidence. Hell, she can’t provide athe year or location it happened. Would you be so quick to throw your loved one under the bus?

I think not. Something traumatic clearly happened to Dr Ford and I hope she is getting the help she needs, but she has not proved a single bit of credible evidence to shred a man and his family who has been in the public eye as a judge for two decades.  You believe simply because it fits your agenda.  You are smarter than that, but name calling is more fun?

I hope you skip jury duty.

If my spouse was vying for a position in the highest court of the land and for a lifetime position, then I would expect them to have every facet of their life to be poked at to make sure they are the very best our country has to offer. Especially if they have previously shown to make decisions that show a disregard for women's choice in action (forcing yourself on someone), when they will be making choices for women at large (sexual rights).  We are not talking criminal, we are talking character. The Ford account is completely within bounds for this type of interview process.

And minimizing the impact of this on her life is comical because there are those out there like you (and worse) who will discredit the damage she has had to live through (and you even claim she has received) as some political ploy. And there are those out there who will act on that premise in a profoundly negative way. We have seen mass shootings caused by the idea of a caravan coming to the US and pipe bombs sent out to defend the President. It is not a far leap to think someone would want her hurt or worse because of her decision to speak out.

It's spelled "conscience." Jesus, you people are so stupid.

The only time my ‘conscious’ caught up to me was coming down off psychedelics

Has Dr. Ford even been able to return home yet? Or is she still having to hide her whereabouts from harassers, which is a perfectly normal thing that people have to do all the time because her life has definitely not been ruined or damaged by this?

Kavanaugh is bought and paid for by corporate interests, not social causes like Planned Parenthood/abortion.

Wait, am I understanding this right? They decided not to judge on the case.....So that somehow proves how he would/would not judge on a case? And all the right wing nuts come out applauding?

They have to post somewhere. They certainly want to stay away from the indictment and Trump threads. Kavanaugh is the only thing that feels like a win to them. So, even if they have to invent why Kavanaugh was opposed and despised, here they are heaping scorn on the ebil libs and their wicked hidden agendas.

Sad to be so dedicated to an absolute stranger that you can't make yourself see him for what he is.

Salute to celery man who was far more concise.

They're also proving they don't really believe their demagoguery against Planned Parenthood.  They're happier to claim this as some sort of right wing win.

This is the correct answer.

It's stupid for anyone to take anything from SCOTUS not granting cert, let alone for a particular justice's particular vote within SCOTUS for not granting cert.  It's a 99% chance every time that is the outcome.

Kav making the bench was the best thing that ever happened to Ford. She was spared the lawsuit for defamation and possible perjury.

He would have never sued her, for obvious reasons.
