The box that contains the main valve on my irrigation system, is flooded. Any ideas on cause/how to address? Due to the time of year I can't find a company that can come out before late next week.

This happened to my FIL over the winter. I went over to check it out and it had caused a giant water bubble in the yard. There was a small crack from the freeze and it caused a decent leak that flooded the box and then the yard. We had to shut off the water to the system and dig around to find the crack. Plumbers will do it, but they will charge you a lot of money to find it and fix it. The parts to fix it were less than $10, but it was not fun digging around the system to find the leak. Good luck.

1)  Shut off water main.

2)  Bail water out of box with a paper cup

3) wait for remaining water to recede

4) Turn off main valve for irrigation system

5) have a helper turn water main on s-l-o-w-l-y

6) watch inside of box to see where water is coming from.  Hopefully there won't be any because Main Irrigation valve is off

7) repair as necessary
