Not really trivial, but this is as good a place to drop it as any:   My son has a SATB2 gene mutation which has left him with a severe speech delay.  He didn't say "Mama" until he was 7 (he'

Finding nice chunks of petrified wood during random strolls on our small Fayette County farm.  These are a few of the nicer pieces found over the past 17 years that we’ve lived here.

So it's not just ex Playboy bunnies or eastern European escorts that like old wood... noted.

It's unbelievable. Clean, spotless public bathrooms everywhere. That was our first purchase upon returning home -- a high quality, heated, Japanese style bidet with all of the different controls. Game changer.

The 1812 Overture

At our church, there's a quick 3 minute time-out between worship and sermon to scoot the kids off to their Sunday school classes. During that time, the worship team will play an encore of the previous song.

We unintentionally did a jazz version where everyone played something different. I tried to follow the keys, the bass tried to follow the acoustic, the drummer did something else completely. It was chaos but hilarious at the same time. We couldn't stop giggling before we exited stage left.

Me and Aggie (little bro) would join right in there.

I am guessing that playing in the church band lands you a surprisingly low levels of trim.

I get tremendous psychological satisfaction when I swat annoying house flies and feed them to the pet turtle when visiting my in-laws' country house.

My BIL gave us a tiny lazy Susan, maybe 2' in diameter. I hated the idea of having another thing on our dining table, not to mention our dining table is rectangular so would look really silly.

It sat in the garage for about a year, but I relented and put it on our dining. Man, that thing is great. With 6 people in the house, we're not reaching over each other or asking for things to be passed around.

I highly recommend anyone with a table that sits 8+ people to get 1, maybe 2.

on-site office pogues getting butthurt about remote employees gaming around the stupid, counter-productive fiefdom rules of insecure managers.

Yesterday my wife asked Alexa to set a time that didn't make any sense to me and as a joke I instinctively shouted, "Alexa, belay that order!".  I was surprised and delighted when Alexa replied, "Timer cancelled."  I felt like a Star Fleet officer.

There’s a little park about a 20 minute walk from my house. The grass is so thick and fluffy that my feet don’t even touch the soil underneath.

It’s amazing just stand there and feel like I’m floating on a cloud.

PERSONAL FRAGRANCES.  My legal assistant has asthma super bad.  We have a big sign on the door that says please don't enter if you have any kind of fragrance on.  We tell people when they call for a consultation to not wear fragrance or lotion.  The worst is the laundry fragrances.  Shit I was on tennis court and someone from 5 courts over was playing and the "fragrance" was wafting over the whole facility. My assistant keeps an emergency inhaler and nebulizer by her desk for the folks who can't read or hear.

My sense of smell is more acute than I would like. It's definitely a curse, not a blessing. Most people, places, and things stink.

Nevertheless, I find it absolutely incredible that as a society, we don't do a better job at discouraging the use (and especially the overuse) of cologne and other fragrances. It's as though because smells are invisible, we just give a free pass to all of the presumptuous fuckheads who bathe in odors after (or instead of actually) bathing. From a pure sensory perspective, it's no different than just bellowing out a loud shout non-stop, or walking around with a strobe light and putting it in strangers' faces.

If I ever go postal, I will hunt by smell.

In the meantime, you smelly fucks, yeah, I farted as close to your face as I could manage.

Edit - to keep with the thread, it amuses me when people occasionally get these two threads mixed up.

It’s similar with smokers, but obviously much worse.

If you smoke, you smell like shit. All the time. Fuck you and your selfish bullshit. You are a drain on the healthcare system as well.

If you smoke cigars, one shower is not enough. That shit infiltrates everything. I fucking hate it.

If you share a washing machine with a smoker, I feel for you.

I never had basketball coaching in my life. I learned by mimicry, so my shot always *looked* superficially convincing, but wouldnt go in for shit.

A while ago, I decided to watch a bunch of youtube instructions and tried them out. Didnt work.

Recently, I decided to binge-watch **all** the videos. With the imperfect information from each video synthesized, it just fucking clicked.

Went from shooting 25% at the line to 70% pretty much overnight. Its insanely satisfying to spin a shot off my hand now and have it swish through the hoop. AND I have a sporting skill I can teach my kid down the road. 💆‍♂️

I find many "good" smells (colognes, perfumes, floral scented garbage bags) even more unpleasant than smokerstench, but I used to smoke, so I probably have some degree of natural resistance to it.

But I agree with you in principle, even if I personally don't feel the same way.

Grandson being pissed that his mom and dad only read 2 books to him tonight at bedtime, then his reminding them, "Glammy & Grandad read lots( 8 ) of books to me last night."

It's funny, but also wish it happened a hellova lot more often!!!

Scrubbing down with a loofah every once in a while is awesome.

I made smash burgers for dinner, and every part of my body felt greasy. Scrubbing off the grit and dead skin makes me want to touch myself.

That happened with me about 40 years ago but with golf after reading Jack Nicklaus' book "Golf My Way."  I have been able to hit long and straight ever since.

Start with the next time you are privileged with a slice of bacon out a dab of peanut butter on it and it’ll just take off from there

We have a really nice outdoor space at my office. Nice enough that people will come here to take engagement, wedding, resume pictures standing in front of trees.

I'm working outside because it's an icebox in my office.

The outdoor speaker has played 3 Phil Collins / Genesis songs in the past hour. This makes me happy.

When I used to sweat under the sun for a few hours, I'd jump in the shower with 2 cans of cold Meeeeeller Laht.

Drinking in the shower is under-rated, and should be done on a semi-regular basis. In fact, I will move some shampoo bottles to make room for beers later tonight.

One of my previous coworkers would drink in the shower for breakfast.

You work for the Travis County DA's office?  Sounds like a Rosemary-esque breakfast routine right there.
