I should preface my picks by saying I like my sitcoms like I like my rock- classic. Ā I’m probably missing someone obvious, but thatĀ said, in descending order:

Archie Bunker

Lucy Ricardo

Maxwell Smart

Michael Scott

Fred SanfordĀ

and the GOAT...

Ā

Spoiler

Barney Fife

He wasn’t a primary character, but Frank Constanza has a special place somewhere

Archie is an interesting choice for a ā€œfavorite.ā€ Ā Easily the most complex and flawed, but people watched him evolve on their screen and rooted for him to become a better man. Ā Very reflective of the time the show ran.Ā

Ron Swanson

Leslie Knope

Ā Andy Dwyer

Michael Scott

Dwight Schrute

Charlie Kelly

Dennis Reynolds

Pierce Hawthorne

Jeff Winger

Lucille Bluth

Max Blum

Chandler Bing

Abed Nadir

Mork from Ork, funny as hell

George Jefferson, tried to be a hardass, but was a softy inside.

Maxwell Klinger/ Radar O'Reilly( equally endearing)

Alex P Keaton, because his hippie parents deserved it.

Arnold Jackson, because hey, he was adopted too.Ā  LOlz.

Not the GOAT, but David Puddy from Seinfeld only appeared in 11 episodes and killed it every time. Seemed like he was in more. May be the greatest per minute of screen time.

Oh god no. He was a dork. I loved that character when I was a kid but now he's just dumb. Newhart carried that show but if you want to pick a secondary character then go with Elliot Carlin.Ā

Goddammit I should have thought of those. Artie is my leader. +rep

after giving this some thought, Susie GreeneĀ has to be near the top of any list.Ā

"I said let's go get some fucking cheese!"

A surprising modern pick thrown in amongst the old classics.Ā  Well done, sir.

Rowan Atkinson and his Black Adder series is my favorite from the 80's-90's on.

Ā Archie is such a piece Ā of work he's my 70' guy, and it'sĀ Andy and Barney from my childhood.

Ā

Strong lists above though
