March 26, 20187 yr I think there needs to be thread to share the amazing experience that is JITB late at night. Currently two cars behind a Chrysler that thinks it's a Bentley and directly behind a Kia SUV with a handicapped plate. I'm pretty sure the people in the Kia tried ordering at the first menu with no speaker and just gave up but are still stuck in line. Always a fun experience in the JITB line late at night. Money shots of the meal to follow, if I survive
March 26, 20187 yr Author Dude in the Chrysler has been at the window for at least ten minutes. Must have ordered 17 late night boxes.
March 26, 20187 yr Author Yup, Kia drove right past the window the looked to do the same at cabana next door. Now to figure out how to post the money shot with no tapatalk...
March 26, 20187 yr I could eat a dozen of those tacos back in college. I still love them, but can't eat near as much.
March 26, 20187 yr JITB tacos are the shit. And then you get the shits. But I remember when I could eat the 3 tacos and a bacon ultimate cheeseburger in one sitting. My heart slows down just thinking about that now.
March 26, 20187 yr After 10:30am and I still feel like breakfast... Extreme Sausage Sandwich and/or Grande Sausage Breakfast Burrito Otherwise... Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger
March 26, 20187 yr Legit tacos son - haven't been to a Jack in many years. The go to used to be a jumbo jack and 2 tacos for $2 from the Guadalupe location back when I was in undergrad. Need to hit that up next time I'm in LA or Houston.

March 26, 20187 yr sometimes it is helpful to express costs/amounts of money in JiTB tacos. Like, this is a nice guitar, but is it really worth 3000 tacos? Fuck man I just spent 100 tacos on gas.
March 26, 20187 yr pissed they got rid of the big texas cheeseburger. that and 2 tacos was my go to drunk food.

March 26, 20187 yr I still get six for lunch every month or two. Still the greatest article ever published in the WSJ: Quote More than 1,000 times a minute, someone bites into what has been described as a wet envelope of cat food—and keeps eating. Jack in the Box is known to most of the country for its hamburgers and bigheaded mascot. But for many of its devotees, the magic of the fast-food chain lies in its interpretation of a taco. A tortilla wrapped around a beef filling that is dunked in a fryer and topped with American cheese, lettuce and hot sauce, the taco appeared on the menu in the 1950s after the first Jack in the Box opened in San Diego. As the chain spread beyond California, the taco has followed it —with good reason. Jack in the Box now sells more tacos than any other item on its menu thanks to a legion of fans who swear by the greasy vessels even as they sometimes struggle to understand their appeal. The first time Heather Johnson tasted a Jack in the Box taco, she was at a drive-through in Cincinnati when she noticed you could get two for 99 cents, so she added them to her burger order. She took two bites, threw the rest on the passenger seat and kept driving. “It was stale, greasy, spicy, crunchy, saucy and just plain strange,” said Ms. Johnson, a 43-year-old director of operations at an advertising agency in Cincinnati and author of a blog called the Food Hussy. “Who puts a slice of American cheese in a taco?” Two minutes later, she picked the taco off the seat and finished it. Then she ate the other one. “I was like, ‘I must have more. This is vile and amazing,’” she said. Mike Primavera believes when it comes to Jack in the Box tacos, there are two kinds of people: those who think they’re disgusting and those who agree they’re disgusting but are powerless to resist them. He first tried one about 10 years ago when he stopped at a Jack in the Box on his way home from a bar. “I remember pulling it out of the sleeve, and even though I was drunk I was like, ‘I shouldn’t eat this.’ But damn it was good,” said Mr. Primavera, an equipment manager for a general contractor in Seattle. “I’ve been addicted to them ever since.” Mr. Primavera, who made the cat food comment on Twitter, said the secret to the tacos’ goodness may be the juxtaposition of the “soggy, nasty middle” and the “rim of crunchiness on the outside” that comes from deep-frying the tortilla with the beef filling already inside. One key, he said: “You can’t look at it too long before you eat it. You just kind of have to get it outside of the sleeve and into your mouth.” Every Jack in the Box taco is born at one of three plants in Texas and Kansas, where tortillas made from stone-ground white corn are cut, cooked and filled with the beef mixture. They are shrink-wrapped and frozen and eventually shipped to stores to be fried, topped and served in taco-sized bags. The company sells 554 million tacos a year, or about 1,055 a minute. That is about the same number of Big Macs McDonald’s says it sold in the U.S. in 2007, the last time it says it tracked that figure.

March 26, 20187 yr I have actually never seen a JITB taco out of it's wrapper. Just eat them in the car while driving home at about 1am......

March 26, 20187 yr Ultimate cheeseburger with no sauce, 2 tacos, and 3 piece egg roll with a side of ranch. Drunken binge eating. Oh yeah.

March 27, 20187 yr Love them descriptions. I'd like to be described as both "vile and amazing". Only halfway there, though.

Don't know what they are--they're not tacos--but they're addictive as hell and they're freakin' fantastic after midnight.
March 27, 20187 yr I didnt even want a Jumbo Jack this day, but I couldn’t resist and ordered “Two yumbo yacks.” Edited March 27, 20187 yr by Fudbelty

March 27, 20187 yr I miss jitb. I member when they did the triple ultimate cheeseburger for a while. That was a chore to tackle, and required a large dp to wash down. 1500 calories in 5 minutes.
March 27, 20187 yr breakfast jacks with a ton of taco sauce are my 1am Uber ride through the drive through go to meal. I usually buy 6 saving 2 for the late morning hangover.
March 27, 20187 yr Once a year on Christmas while driving home from the in-laws I crush a bacon ultimate cheeseburger and some curly fries. So good but I think it’d kill me to do it any more often.
March 27, 20187 yr Had a friend who bought a car with heated seats solely to keep his two bacon ultimate cheeseburgers warm on his drive home after being out drinking.
March 27, 20187 yr Haven't had JITB in ages. The chicken sandwich + 2 tacos was salvation as a broke college kid. So was a Randall's Cola for $0.25 out of the vending machine and a $0.75 bearclaw for breakfast. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I gained weight.

Got to the window and they tried to palm off some weird new sandwich on me. New trainee had been fucking up orders I guess. I left and went to taco bell down the street. I will say that that was the first time JITB failed me in the drive thru. Where Taco Bell screws up and shorts orders like it's part of their marketing plan to get you to try new things.
