He did my ankle surgery in 93/94 somewhere in there..
When I told my parents(both UT grads and football fans) who the Dr. was, they were both like "The QB?"

He put pins in my hip in 5th grade. Great guy.

Nice.

Maybe that's his thing?  I've got 2 small plates and 6 or so screws in the ol ankle

Speaking of former QB's..Marty Akins' son was a fraternity brother of mine.  Had a nice party out at his house in Horseshoe Bay

Scott Derry has a roofing company south of Houston. Recently did some work for me on a very tricky job and he absolutely nailed it. Price was right, too. Highly recommended.

Was he like a coach on the roof?

He doesn’t need a ladder to inspect the finished work.

Does he look the other way on E-Verify?

DeMarvion Overshown turning heads.

From the Dallas Morning News:

OXNARD, Calif. — Mike McCarthy casually tossed out the names of a few players who have gotten off to strong starts in this camp while chatting with reporters after his press conference.

Some of those names will come as no surprise to fans.

Others probably will.

Let’s start with defense. The Cowboys’ head coach said veteran corner Jourdan Lewis “is having a hell of a camp’' and quickly followed by mentioning corner DaRon Bland. McCarthy loves the way the entire safety group is playing.

But the first player he mentioned on that side of the ball is linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who is coming off a torn ACL that ended his rookie season before it began.

“Overshown jumps off the tape at you,’’ McCarthy said. “No question there.’’

It’s not a question for Micah Parsons either.

“Overshown has been unbelievable,’’ Parsons said. “I think he’s more confident and stronger than he was before he tore his ACL. He’s coming downhill, he’s being aggressive, he understand his reads.

“You can just see the confidence in him growing. He’s getting more reps with the ones. They’re ready to get him out there. “I think he’s going to have an unbelievable year.’’

Moro Ojomo got his first sack today. Not bad for a guy who isn’t old enough to go senior prom.

Cosmi had really solidified his place on their OL. Hate that injury for him. Speedy recovery big man.

A great Longhorn who quietly suffered horrible coaching more than any of us fans will ever understand.

He never should have been the QB at Texas. Or anywhere really, he was a TE prospect all the way that got misused. But that wasn't his fault, he played his career for the guy who found a way to lose a coin toss he won.

That day in the Cotton Bowl was one of the best memories though. Came completely out of nowhere.

catching up and very late to post the departure of Olen Underwood, a junior starter in '63, on 28 february 2025

his son and i were part of the same jester east tribe 84-86, so i went to their house a couple of times

very low key on the memorabilia - he had a '63 team signed football and 1 small framed pic as a bronco - no oilers despite the conroe home base

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/courier/name/olen-underwood-obituary?id=57868606

his last game as a horn was the 65 orange bowl - namath DID NOT get in to the endzone - and this new video posted 8 months ago proves it:

Son of a former player (Rick),  Maverick McIvor,  outstanding debut at Western Kentucky.   "Apple doesn't fall far from the tree"

If you need a refresher on Rick,  review a summary of the '83 season, specifically the aggy game.    However, don't relive the Georgia Cotton Bowl game.

Quote

Western Kentucky didn’t just open its season with a win, it opened with a statement. Quarterback Maverick McIvor, a 25-year-old transfer from Abilene Christian, looked every bit the gunslinger head coach Tyson Helton covets. In his Hilltoppers debut against Sam Houston, McIvor threw for 401 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a rushing score in a 41-24 victory.

Helton has long described his ideal quarterback as a “John Wayne” figure, calm under pressure, and unbothered by chaos. McIvor gave him just that.
