February 13Feb 13 apparently youtube tv is losing all paramount channels after tomorrow, including cbs. does anyone know anything about this? cuz that’s gonna be a no for me dawg.
February 13Feb 13 I have read nothing about this situation other than your post, but my guess is it will ultimately get resolved before the tournament starts. The streaming services and content providers love playing tummysticks over this shit. And if they don't come to terms, I'll just pirate the games off of any of the 60 streaming sports sites that cost nothing. Because fuck adding a different subscription for every sporting event. Was planning on cancelling YouTubeTV after the tournament anyway. If they want to speed the process up, more power to them.

February 13Feb 13 You don’t think they’ll reach an agreement in the next couple of weeks? ps- cbs is still available over air for most of the country for the cost of a $20 antenna. Edited February 13Feb 13 by Pato del Muerto
February 13Feb 13 This is why I don't fucking pay for streaming services anymore. I just bootleg stream everything. They're all greedy as fuck and anti-consumer, fuck 'em.

This kind of thing used to happen all the time when I had cable or Directv/Dish, so I'm not sure what your point is. Whoever is providing your service has the business model of supplying the fewest relevant channels at the highest price possible.

Also, I will give props to YTTV because they're going to knock off $8/month of everyone's bills and they specifically said it's so that customers can get a Paramount+ subscription which is $8/month. No way in hell Time Warner or Comcast would ever do that.
February 14Feb 14 I feel like this happens quite a bit, I've had YTTV for 6 or 7 years now. Always gets resolved before the big event. But maybe I should freak out, cancel my sub, go to Walmart and buy all the toilet paper?
February 14Feb 14 They are working it out. https://variety.com/2025/digital/news/youtube-tv-blackout-cbs-paramount-contract-dispute-1236306884/ Edited February 14Feb 14 by Machinator

Im sure there are dozens of completely fucking useless channels they have piled on down below the sports channels but I wouldnt know. All I give a fuck about is live sports, and yet apparently there are now 4 different Nickelodian channels I help support. Fuck that.

I was saying that these channel disputes happen with every satellite, cable, or streaming provider. The difference is that YTTV actually takes care of their customers while it's happening instead of saying "Tough shit". And @UTexasFight is right. Those of us who just watch sports are getting a much better deal than those who don't watch sports at all. They're getting shafted. Edited February 17Feb 17 by HornOnTheBayou
February 17Feb 17 I have been slowly preparing for the inevitable raping of the sports media consumer for several years. I’ve managed to move the Cowboys to the who gives a shit pile, along with the Mavericks. The Rangers and Astros are teetering. The Dallas Stars are safe for now. College football is still a tough give up but a few more egregious price hikes by the streaming services and we will join our kids and subscribe to nothing.

It was going to accommodate about 95% of my sports watching at half the cost. Quote Venu Sports announced Aug. 1 that it would be available for $42.99 per month with its planned launch in the fall. The platform would include offerings from 14 linear networks -- ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, ABC, Fox, FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, TNT, TBS, truTV -- as well as ESPN+. Grab an over the air antenna for NBC and CBS live sports, now I'm probably up to 99% of what I would watch. They could raise the price 50% and I'd still be coming out ahead.
