plot was dumb and gimmicky but i enjoyed the scenes with just the two of them. Bernthal is incredibly charismatic.

Ya'll are fucking nuts, this was very entertaining and I might have liked more than the first overall.  Mainly due to the brothers being brothers for most of the movie.

I think Affleck was even better in this one.

But whatever...I hope there's a 3rd.

I went back and re-watched the 1st one yesterday before watching 2 this afternoon.  The 1st one was excellent, the 2nd, meh.   I was entertained but not like I was with the 1st one.

We did the exact same thing, and it reminded us of how excellent the first one was.  But we gave 2 a lot more than a "meh" especially after about midway through.

I guess they didn't pay Ben enough to be bothered to re-watch the first movie to remember his character.

100% this.  I did a rewatch of the first immediately before watching this one on Saturday and the difference is jarring.  The way he depicted someone with ASD in the first was nuanced and believable.  He went full-on caricature in the second movie.  The Justine twist at the end of the first one was great, but the army of kids on computers in this one felt like pandering.

I watched Sicario and Sicario 2 yesterday.   That is how you make a sequel.

By adding numbers so we don't confused which is which?

You just liked when he turned sideways in the mirror.

i mean when he was doing his puppy pep talk in his towel i may or may not have actually exclaimed 'jesus he's ripped!'

Yeah. Not great. Not horribad. Berenthal carried it but Ben this time was not great.

B-

I laughed throughout the movie mainly at how all over the place the plot , tone, and action was. It didn’t feel like they knew what movie they wanted it to be and advertised it based on the brothers, but then cut it like a mix between the fist Accountant and the expendables.

What a let down. Boring, except for the first scene with old man J.K. Simmons kicking ass after taking a death blow to the head on the urinal.

I took some advice from this thread and watched the first one. I enjoyed both films. It was cool to see how it started and how Affleck portrayed his character in the first film. The nuance about how he talked different in the 2nd film does not matter one bit. The things explored in both movies about autism were pretty interesting to me. I do not see a whole bunch of characters in movies that I can relate to, but this is for sure one that really hits home.
