August 26, 20187 yr Popular Post What's up, assholes? Welcome to the 2018 Football Season Game Prediction Contest. I did this a long time ago on HornFans, then for the first time on shaggy in 2014, and now we bring it to surly. There will be a prediction thread every week and I will enter the predictions into my highly technologically advanced prediction system software (i.e., Excel) for each user. I am seeing if we can automate it with this board software and will update y'all when possible. In the meantime, I'll post the results for each week but the winner of the season long contest will obviously receive a lot more shag cred. 2014 winner - laga42015 winner - EZ$2016 winner - knoxtnhorn2017 winner - ??? (8badmofo is a bumbling idiot who has no idea how to run a message board server so it's down right now and I can't check) Rules:1. An exactly correct prediction gets 200 points. 2 points are deducted for every point you miss the margin by and 1 point is deducted for every point you miss the total by. 25 points are deducted for predicting the wrong winner. Minimum score is zero. So go ahead and make smartass predictions, no sweat off my back. You want to guess Texas ∞, Oklahoma -∞? Go for it. Probably a good guess, actually. Example: You guess Texas 31, Maryland 13. Final score is Texas 41, Maryland 7. Your score is 200-2*(34-18)-(48-44)=164. 2. Entries close at 5 minutes before listed gametime on the TexasSports.com team schedule page. Posts that have a timestamp after that time or an edit timestamp after that time are disqualified. 3. You can refer to the teams with what you consider cute nicknames if you want, but if I can't tell which team is which then tough shit. 4. All your scores are added up for the season long contest. 5. Tiebreaker for each game is order of entry. The prediction post that is first in the thread among the tied entries wins the tiebreaker. 6. Tiebreaker for season long contest is placement for the final game of the season prediction. Doesn't matter if it's a bowl game, a national semifinal, a national championship game, or the Kansas game if we don't make a bowl. Whatever the final game played is, that's the tiebreaker. That's it. Any other necessary rules or rule changes will be made up on the fly. Good luck. Overall season winner gets jack shit.
August 26, 20187 yr Thanks as always for putting this together. QB run game will still mesmerize the defense, but the secondary won't be nearly as bad as it was in that game last year, no DJ Moore, and the offense should be less inept. Close all the way through, and Maryland may even have a halftime lead, but ultimately Texas gets enough stops to win it. Texas: 34 Maryland: 28
