Was just about to post the same. Irrespective of what Martin is saying now (and he seems like a real piece of work), Incognito is a total piece of shit. Fuck em

Long ass nothing burger of an article.

That’s a guy who seems more worried about looking like a pussy than he should at this point in his life. Seems like he’s moved on career wise and doing pretty well, just let it go bud.

You were the poster victim for bullying in the NFL, but no one really gives a shit at this point.

I mean there are tons of other outlets that are reporting it. The quality of writing hardly seems relevant.

That’s been my takeaway as well. Yeah Incognito is probably/generally the piece of shit people have been saying he is since before this Martin stuff came out, but it’s inappropriate to cast Martin as some sort of victim. And the thing is, Incognito was not the only one these accusations went against. He was merely cast as the ringleader

Props to Martin for rehabbing his life (he’s supposedly a bitcoin expert now)

This is a terrible take. One guy is clearly going to therapy and trying to move past this ordeal because holding grudges and being perceived as a “victim” is not a good optic in the business world. I’m not going to dispute what Moose is saying now, but the word from those connected at the time was that this situation was incredibly fucked up and toxic. One would hope that one would be able to mentally toughen up when getting paid millions to play a game. But shitty work environments have derailed countless careers in every industry. I remember Martin as a good guy and glad he’s moving forward.

But sure, Incognito is basically the same thing and totally well-adjusted:

The only certainty on this thread is that someone named Igcognito, wishes he had communicated in a more incognito manner. Than say... voicemail?

Certified Mail is always an option.

Richie Incognito sounds like the name of the ultimate Sopranos character. Besides AJ of course

This really cannot be stated enough. I have seen it happen to friends and even brushed up against it for a second or two before I got the fuck out that place sooner than is typically "professionally accepted." I don't know a damn thing about Martin or who he is today but that voicemail really speaks for itself no matter what he wants to say now

this really doesn’t prove much of anything.  allegedly they were friends and somewhat close.  I’ve said much worse to some of my best friends and I’m sure many of you have too.  busting a guy’s balls is not a big deal.  a text in a vacuum is a terrible argument to say someone is a piece of shit.  not saying he isn’t, but one text doesn’t mean anything.

this storys so old and so much information has percolated to the surface i dont know why its not obvious that the truth is nuanced and messy (as it always is) and that all elements are legitimate, including martin being an extraordinary victim, and incognito being an extraordinary turd.

frenemy is a real thing in any forced proximity scenarios. i had a dorm neighbor who, by that fact, had lots of social overlap with, we were cordial, hung out, but at times he was a complete piece of shit. once he bought a new wrangler and invited like 6 of us for a ride -- just spilling out the back. he drove towards pease park, bouncing it on and off the curb for fun, and once there decided to do donuts and just absolutely tear up the grass field of the park.

an outside observer would call label us "friends" but if i lived in a diff dorm and knew him by reputation i'd consider him the worst person in austin.

its a high-testosterone environment with men who run through walls for a living.  theres going to be ribbing and clowning and if theres a hint of weakness theyre going to exploit it.  if the dolphins lockerroom were the 4th reich martin wouldnt be the only person out of 52 to have spoken out.  but also, i joke plenty with my friends but stop short at talking about slapping their mothers.

its just a case of a softer than normal athlete running into a meaner than normal squad, and an exceptionally juicy drama for sports media.

You can ignore all stories dealing with Jonathan Martin, and there is still enough evidence to classify Incognito as a complete, piece of shit meathead 5 times over.

True.  And he also went to Nebraska, and was 0-2 against Texas, so I can understand some of the source of his rage and emotional shortcomings.

You refer to your black friends using the n word and tell them you're gonna kill them? Interesting.

if I could bully dak into quitting the team, believe me, I would.

Richie Ingcognito was arrested after throwing a violent fit inside a funeral home, because he wanted to cut off and preserve/freeze his late father's head.

Sounds like a stable and good fellow.

It’s funny Incognito is viewing this as vindication. Martin may have been incapable of “hazing” and felt bullied at the time. He may not have felt bullied, realize he couldn’t hack it, and this was a manufactured, thinly-veiled shield against compensation clawback. It doesn’t matter. Responding in this manner just reminds the public of what a piece of shit Incognito is. I have no idea why Martin said what he said about no bullying, or why Incognito felt the need to respond so aggressively. They should have both said “no comment” when asked any questions about it.

It doesn’t matter that the entire story and accusations again him were a complete lie? No, I think that kind of matters. Being an asshole does not mean people get to slander you and ruin your reputation.

All I saw was Martin claiming he never felt bullied at the time, meaning he overplayed the impact of the shit that Incognito said to for attention/sympathy or whatever.

What did he claim Incognito did that was a lie? Pretty sure the accusations, such that they were, were all true. They had voicemails and did a full investigation:

Seems like that goes well beyond locker room talk where boys will be boys to me. Incognito’s own actions (with Martin and otherwise) ruined his reputation, not any slander.
