February 23Feb 23 What you got? Current obsession is sourdough toasted just enough to give it structure. Lightly buttered and heavily grape-jellied. When it runs its course I’ll likely go back to whole wheat English muffin.
February 24Feb 24 I love great sourdough but most is insipid. I like it toasted with a garlic butter and coarse salt. Or with biskoff cookie butter and bacon. Or with homemade lebneh and Miramar’s and lemon zest.
February 24Feb 24 We got a place up here with a 50+ year old sour dough starter making English muffins. Toasted English Muffins are the top tier.
February 24Feb 24 warm bread and soft butter is about as good as it gets. the bread and butter at perry's gets me in there as much as the pork chop or the steaks.
February 24Feb 24 When I got to Spain, I was like “what do you mean they have toast for breakfast?” “What do you mean just toast and coffee?” But it works. A long roll cut in half. Toasted. Drizzle olive oil. Spread a tomato paste. Sprinkle chopped up ham.

February 24Feb 24 I’ll put this on any type of bread/toast. Smidge of peanut butter, couple of dollops of cottage cheese and drizzle some hot honey over it.

February 25Feb 25 I'm on a keto diet right now. Because I got fat. But, I've lost a good chunk of the fat so far. Bread is one of the things that generally sucks having to give up while doing keto... And then I found this bread. Tastes just like bread. But, when I first got it I tried it as TOAST (there's the connection to the thread) because all the other keto stuff tasted like shit. I was beyond surprised. Tasted like regular toast with the same texture. I highly recommend it. Even tastes like bread if you don't toast it. Edited February 25Feb 25 by Ag with kids
February 27Feb 27 Bread toasted over hot coals tastes way better than toasted in an electric toaster.

Cousin to that is good italian bread brushed with olive oil and toasted on the grill. That said, good buttered bread, toasted on a cast iron griddle over med-lo heat so it crisps through and browns without getting too dark.....is magically delicious. And the proper jelly/jam is strawberry.

And the proper jelly/jam is strawberry. Agreed but I prefer peach preserves or strawberry preserves. Or blackberry jelly, strained of seeds. Jam is the spam of the jelly world. Rooters and rooters, or the fruit equivalent, is in jam. The worst fucking thing is fig preserves. It’s like shit in a mason jar.
February 28Feb 28 You sir should be ashamed of that opinion. I had a fig tree in my backyard, before the winter apocalypse killed it, and homemade fig preserves are one of life’s great pleasures.
February 28Feb 28 I've planted fig trees at every house I've been at. Love fresh figs. Don't love the jam/preserves though.
February 28Feb 28 Toasted baguette, good soft goat cheese, and fig jam is a miracle. Can be breakfast, light lunch, or an appetizer.

I am a strawberry fan, and something like this is my usual go-to: Gotta have some decent chunks of fruit in there, but not so big/much that it's not easily spreadable. As is often the case, it's something the euros generally do better than we do. When in Germany last month, pretty much every day at breakfast I had SOMETHING with real-deal fresh strawberry jam/preserves -- it was fantastic.

February 28Feb 28 Sourdough is the go to for me right now with some boysenberry jam we got at Knotts Berry Farm or some French butter or some shit she bought at the store a few weeks ago that is always in the fridge now. Les Pres Sales or some shit I think, it is pretty good but it has some thick ass salt in it
