February 26Feb 26 JJ Joe was probably Baylor’s 2nd most prominent former QB. Was currently on Baylor’s football radio crew as the color analyst. Always seemed like a good dude. Suspected heart attack. Get your hearts checked out, men. Much too young. https://www.kwtx.com/2025/02/26/baylor-football-legend-jj-joe-confirmed-dead-54/?outputType=amp
February 26Feb 26 Pretty sure he was Baylor's QB for like a decade. 8 minutes ago, Tex Pete said: Which one is Joe?

February 26Feb 26 Wow. My friend’s uncle was one of his HS coaches at Lamar. We drove up a few times to see him play. I’m just slightly older than him, so it was cool at the time to be back in a locker room after a game. When he was at Baylor, the same friend’s dad was a prof there, so I saw him play 5-6 more times in Waco, including the infamous game against us in 92. RIP

RIP The only guys I remember playing against us in 92 had striped shirts.
February 26Feb 26 Main memory is his game at post-death SMU where they didn't throw a forward pass but ran like 90 plays
February 27Feb 27 R.I.P. 8 hours ago, Tex Pete said: JJ Joe was probably Baylor’s 2nd most prominent former QB. Second-most prominent was probably Don Trull
February 27Feb 27 He came and spoke at our elementary school back in the early 90s. He was quite the deal in Arlington. He went to our rival high school. Looking back on it, he was definitely railing my homeroom teacher. She’s the one that got him to come and talk. Seemed like a great dude. Teacher probably loved getting railed by him.
February 27Feb 27 I don’t know if it was a JJ Joe game, (90 or 94 maybe) but does anyone else remember a game in Waco with a crazy weather change? Like 80 at kickoff and 30 by half time?
February 27Feb 27 The first thing I thought of when I read this was the reverse play Baylor used to run with he and Melvin Bonner. Joe would take the snap turn left or right, stand like a statue and just casually 'flick' the ball to Bonner as he passed by. 54... geez.
