Sure, these can be flexed out if they flat out suck like they have before but networks want Dallas as often as they can. This is why Jerry doesn't care about actually winning. Sorry the sarcasm didn't come through the screen...I'm sure there are people who complaining about how much the Cowboys are prime time/3:25 afternoon games.

May 20May 20 This typically idiotic idea that one NFL player from each team could compete in Olympic flag football is classic Goodell whoring bullshit. Why? That's more than they do in the Pro Bowl bullshit. They have contracts. It's a bullshit sport for the Olympics. The USA doesn't need NFL players to dominate that shit. Hell, put Romo and Dez out there and get them a gold medal, at least that could do some good.

May 21May 21 It's 5 v 5. There are no lines, there is no contact so speed is way more important than size. It's basically a QB and 4 WRs on offense, and 5 DBs on defense. You can run the ball but unless your RB is super fast I don't know what advantage a RB offers over just handing the ball to a probably faster WR. You are allowed to rush the passer, but I don't know what the point of having NFL pass rushers vs a faster DB rush the passer. It's not like they have to fight through an OL. Not that USA won't cake walk to gold, but this is a pretty bastardized version of the sport with a lot of elite football traits being non applicable.
May 21May 21 What were they actually proposing to ban, the RB pushing Hurts, or QB sneaks in general? The RB pushing Hurts probably makes a difference on like 5% of their sneaks.

I think defenses can’t push each other (for example, a safety can’t get behind a LB and drive him into the line), which is the only imbalance I can see.
May 21May 21 16 of the Eagles' 17 games next season will be against teams who voted to ban the tush push. Of the nine teams that voted with the Eagles, only Detroit is on their 2025 schedule. Seems like they lobbied mostly non-west AFC teams who could force the AFC West (plus Buffalo) to face the tush push and maybe hurt their wild card chances a little bit.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how the NFL is going to send one player from each of 32 teams to the Olympics, LOL. Total clusterfuck. Just a giant turd on what's left of both the Olympics and the NFL as it relates to real football. I think the eventual goal is to make NFL flag football and make it coed.

Just 2 teams need to flip. the proposal was not to ban the specific play, but banning assisting the ball carrier, reverting to the old rule that dated back to ban of the flying wedge, that I grew up with. Basically making it a penalty to push, pull, encircle, or throw RBs. It being legal why wouldn’t you sign a discus thrower and a dwarf RB and throw him down the field? The safety issue is more downfield. We’ve seen WRs stood up and then a TE slam into them at speed to advance them the offense has a decided advantage on the tush push, as the defense cannot counter with the same force. Degrasse-Tyson explained in a Peyton manning short and showed how under current rules it’s practically unstoppable. It’s a rugby play and should die with reimplementation of the old rule.
May 22May 22 Don't outlaw the play. Just make it a penalty to push another player from behind. It should be that way anyhoo.
May 22May 22 They should stop calling it a tush push the actual pushing of Hurts means nothing and affects a small % of the outcomes from that play. Until ball carriers are no longer able to go forward after contacting their OL there is nothing to ban about the play. Pretty much all short yardage runs are you hitching a ride on your OL.

Actually that is incorrect. As Degrasse-Tyson demonstrates, the physics of the play provide an overwhelming advantage to the RB from the actual push. The defense cannot do the same with countervaling action. the new rule proposal did not outlaw the specific play but returned to the old rule that the ball carrier cannot be pushed, pulled, lifted, encircled, or thrown by another player regardless of the actual play. That was the rule for decades.
May 23May 23 Either ban pushing of the ball carrier by offensive players, or allow the defense to do the same in the trenches.
May 23May 23 Should make the rule that the QB can't advance the ball unless a defender first rushes him across the LOS or the QB counts 5 Mississippi out loud. Neighborhood ball rule.
May 23May 23 21 hours ago, Vic Mackey said: . This is supposed to say something but really doesn't. One the attempts. 27 attempts surpasses the others by a quite a bit. But also, it's leaving out all the 4th and 2's and longer that they do as well. I bet if you add in all 4th and 1-3 attempts the Eagles would dwarf all teams.

June 2Jun 2 Frank Ragnow, arguably best center in nfl, suddenly retires today due to issues with ongoing injuries. Really hurts the Lions to lose him after OTAs. 5541 snaps in his career, gave up 6 sacks.
June 3Jun 3 Ive seen 3 different ESPN headlines about The Steelers potentially acquiring Jonnu Smith from the Dolphins. Officially the slowest NFL offseason of all time?
