Thanks, I genuinely thought our coach was going to take one of his players and throw them in a river.  Now I know.

Actually, I didn't mean to quote what you said as serious.

I was referring to other post about the river comment.

It was my mistake.

No worries, but now I’m intrigued by this whole river thing

Not sure that's ideal.  He pitches to contact.  He's best suited to be an innings eater when the starter melts down.  Right now I don't see a viable closer unless they try to go with Duplantier.  Mercer seems to have no control and throws a very straight ball.  The freshmen DV and Burns have great stuff but are probably just too green.  Riojas doesn't seem to have an out pitch.   Also, who's the setup guy?  Is it going to be grab bag every night?  I guess the man gets paid to figure this stuff out but it's pretty murky at the moment.

Grubbs has a very good slider (looks better than last year) that creates a lot of swing and miss both in and out of the strike zone. Plus he has the demeanor for it, Dre came through tonight but he historically has not done well in those situations in the past. He has typically excelled when given clean innings to get you 3 outs her and there in innings 6-8. Dre excelled last year in a setup role and I think that is where he needs to stay

The start Max made against Oklahoma last year where he grinded through 5 innings and left the game down 5-0 only allowing 1 ER sticks out to me. Texas booted the ball around to the tune of 5 errors and he didn't really let it faze him. Never showed any visible frustration, just towed the rubber and controlled what he could control.

I honestly would rather see Max start on Sunday  because I'm not sold on Bing but if him starting isn't in the cards I think he has the demeanor to lock down games and I think his slider being better this year has helped him a lot because last year he did struggle to put guys away at times.

If any of you guys in the stadium are near the group who won't stop insanely drunkenly chanting, please go up there and punch them in the mouth.

It was two guys. I was too annoyed at our bullpen to want to go mess with those idiots.

My guess is we will need outs from new faces tomorrow if we want to beat Tech. Guys like Moffett or Hamilton, who we still haven’t seen yet despite the fact Schloss has been hyping him up quite a bit.

Probably don’t want to use Riojas, Burns or Dre til Sunday at the earliest.

I wonder if the cold, dry air was messing with Riojas. He didn't seem like he was far off.

If Moffett could gain reasonable control of his pitches he has good stuff.

I was really hoping Weiner would help him and turn him into a real asset.

I went to sleep at 9-1 with a big Cookoff buzz. Surprised to see the final this morning but F it. We won.

Cody Howard has pitched 34.1 innings at Texas, he has given up 44 hits, 30 walks, 34 ER, and 5 HBP.

He has allowed a .326 AVG, 8.91 ERA, and a 2.17 WHIP...

And it got a whole lot worse tonight

What's he supposed to say, 'Well he's the worst I've ever seen and we're going to throw him in the river on the way home'

yes gif

I went to bed ahead 10-9 with the go ahead run on 2nd in the 8th.

I wake up to see we won 10-9.

Looks like I am going to bed during any future bullpen collapses. That might be hard to do if I am at the game but I will work something out.

I think I’d like to see us stretch out Riojas. Like you said he doesn’t seem to have a killer out pitch but I do think he is very effective overall. Looks like a Sunday starter rather than a mid reliever to me.

Looked like the get hot, sit down, oh shit you’re going in caused him to lose some sharpness imo.

Keith said exactly this on the radio call.

Just don’t lose to Tech. I hate losing to those guys. Let’s get another quality start out of Harrison.

Did someone have a link to the game or did all of yall just suck it up and pay?

Was moving a little slow this morning.

Washington was up 9-3 in the 6th and just gave up 6 runs.

9-9 bottom 6. Very little chance our game starts on time.

If you haven’t heard Kermit the frog announce baseball now is your chance.

wait...Cody Howard is still on the team?

If I told you that one guy accounts for more than a quarter of earned runs given up so far this year, who else could it be?

Streaming through D1 baseball only. Or listen to Craig and Keith via Texassports

I’ll only have 30 minutes before taking my wife on a date. I’ll just follow this thread for updates, I guess.

When I got ESPN+, I thought I was good to watch all games.  Now, they come up with another pay per view scheme. Bullshit

People used TEX25 for a $10 discount on the D1Baseball monthly subscription.

I would think it is still valid.

72 and beautiful at the ballpark today.

Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler with a strong wind out to right.

Don't forget FloSports and now Aggy signed a deal with Playfly Sports.

It's only going to get worse as time goes by.

So... 11:30 ET?

No Craig today on the radio call.

Both the Starting & Backup football analysts doing the call today....Roger Wallace & Zonk.
