April 29Apr 29 Maeve is a blood thirsty psychopath, and I think she’s trying to take over the family and maybe give the reins over to Eddie. I’m halfway convinced that she is the “grass”. Spoiler I’m ok suspending disbelief for a tv show, but I don’t see how it would be possible to get a car bomb in Vron’s car at their home. Surely the Stevensons have better security than that

It started with the trailer. Over the top cliche use of a played out rolling Stones song? That was the first strike. This show feels like it's been done 3 dozen times before in the last 30 years. I'm enjoying it mostly because of the actors but yeah, the similarities to the Godfather are kinda funny. You have a Fredo, an adopted son, Helen Mirren as a later period Connie. The grandson is Vincent. When does Moe Greene or Frankie Pantangeli's brother show up?

May 2May 2 Maeve placed a call to someone named Paul who presumably planted the bomb. I think it's pretty clear that she's trying to get both Conrad and Harry out of the picture and install Eddie as the new boss of the family. Why she wants that is beyond me, but it's also clear that she behaves erratically and without sensible judgment. I'm pretty sure that the montage accompanying the opening credits includes the burning Mercedes, so the explosion came as absolutely no surprise to me. I hate it when shows spoil their own shit. (would) Saw earlier someone said Eddie had Joffrey vibes - bang. Great analogy. What a little prick. This series is fun. Edited May 4May 4 by Baboontyme

May 4May 4 For anyone else who watches this with the subtitles turned on, pay close attention to the lyrics of the opening song - it's utterly incomprehensible to me, and I'm curious whether anyone else can make heads or tails of what it's supposed to be about, what it communicates, what general vibe it's supposed to impart, etc.

The song is supposed to be describing a panic attack and the racing thoughts that are involved with a panic attack.

I dug that song too and added to my liked songs and it's not really my genre...I figured it was some Brit expressions that the show is full of that I laugh my ass off at. I'm trying to work Harry's mannerism of making a statement and finishing it with "yeah?"...for example ""Get your fucking hand off me, yeah?"
May 5May 5 To be clear, I like the song too. But my initial take on it was a lot closer to a schizophrenic's word salad than the racing thoughts of a panic attack. I look forward to listening to it next time with that explanation in mind.

I’ve been walking around the house singing to my kids at volume “I’m gonna hit your business like it’s momentary blindness” over and over. They love me.

Despite being wealthy and powerful while looking like Pierce Brosnan he chooses to be molesty instead of suave. Speaking of creepy, Jan looked mighty fine in this outfit.

The only part that sort of jibes with the show is I'ma hit your business if for momentary blissness. Like you said the rest is just word salad that rhymes. But I also like it. Will Harry go all Lalo Salamanca and single handedly down an army of cartel assassins? I suspect yes. This show is a really fun watch even though you have to suspend a lot of reality. I like the call of Harry turning for the Stevensons. Interesting thought Prepuce.
May 12May 12 Cunt cunt cunt Seriously, how much does Harry get paid to be the one stop shop for fixing every single problem this family has??

May 12May 12 Great episode. Conrad is a useless blowhard. Kevin is just useless. If Kevin is smart enough to know Maeve ordered the bombing you have to think Harry is, regardless of what Conrad is saying. I think this may come down to a Maeve/Eddie alliance vs a Harry/Serraphina alliance. How many times has Conrad said 'It's not Harry!'? Definitely makes you think Maeve is going to be pushing the Harry is the rat narrative. Characters that are too dumb to survive: Jan, Kevin, Conrad Characters that are too smart to kill off: Harry, Serraphina, Maeve Maeve and Eddie are so contemptible. That's good casting, writing and acting.
May 12May 12 Jordi Molla as Jaime made me laugh after I did not recognize him until he took off the shades. Hey it's Diego from Blow!
May 13May 13 The women in Harry's life sure are foolish. I guess we're supposed to believe that he's so excellent at keeping them in the dark that they're both blindly incompetent? Also, I have a very hard time taking Paul seriously because whenever he's on screen, I can't help but imagine him as Mac from Always Sunny.

Maeve will learn of Jan's dalliance with the undercover cop, and she will be blamed for all of it (the leaking/the rat). Oh, and, I felt like i was completing a mission on GTA during the Harry/Warehouse extended scene. Edited May 13May 13 by yoladu
May 13May 13 Maeve has gone from cartoonishly evil to cartoonishly stupid, but I'll stick with the show. In other news, the undercover cop is someone I would consider having sexual relations with.

May 15May 15 I just want to say that I have been trying to incorporate 'innit?' into my every day vocabulary. I'm not sure how it's going. I think my wife would probably say not well.

May 19May 19 I enjoyed that episode. Harry still owes Richie for the bullying while Harry was unarmed, and visiting in good faith. The world owes Eddie an asskicking and his "leverage" is soon to evaporate. Harry's reaction was bullshit, but I'll play along. and now Harry also owes Kat 2X favors. But hell, if there's never a call on those, WGAF? Harry just sits there and smolders, while otherwise doing superhuman shit for others.
