Poland is massively pro-America. They spend nearly 5% of GDP on national defence. They buy vast amounts of U.S. weapons. They even thought about naming a military base after Donald Trump.

Yet, the U.S. is now picking a fight with Poland and treating Polish officials with contempt.

This is a lesson for those who still foolishly say that Canada should just ‘give Trump what he wants.’

Our disgraceful treatment by the U.S. isn’t Canada’s fault, or Poland’s fault, or Ukraine’s fault, or the EU’s fault.

This is happening because the U.S. is led by someone who admires dictators and has contempt for democratic nations.

We must stop trying to appease the insanity currently overtaking our southern neighbour.

so they hit military targets instead of civilian for once?

Pissing off our allies and destroying our military export market to own the libs.  So much winning.

Germany, and others, consider backing out of F-35 orders because of the concern that you know who could withhold parts/service or outright disable (whether that's really possible or not) systems.  In other words, the US is no longer to be trusted.  I can't blame that line of reasoning at all.

The Euro Fighter might not be as good as US aviation but it's better than Russian crap.  And it won't be subject to the whims of TFG.  I'll bet Saab is looking into replacing the jet engine in Gripens for similar reasons.

It's stunning to see partnerships built over 70+ years of generally positive cooperation being blown to bits in just 50 days.

A weapon you can use in war time is better than a weapon you can't use when you need it. The Ukraine War should have pointed that out for Europe.

Every single one of our allies would be insane NOT to pursue that course of action: complete and totally decoupling from the US defense industry.

First, if the US (and by "the US," I mean our current mercurial, psychotic administration) at all disagrees with your use of a weapon/platform....the US will disable it.

Second, there is no a non-zero chance, which is rising rapidly, that one or more of our former allies will end up in actual defensive combat operations against the US.  It's a terrible idea to be in a situation where your enemy can turn off your defensive weapons as the battle begins.

The only smart move for Europe is to decouple not 50%, not 90%, but 100% from US defense systems.  F-35s are a stupid, stupid buy.  Because yep, it doesn't matter how good it is if you can't even get it up in the air when you need it.

Think the folks at Lockheed and Raytheon don't see this writing on the wall?  Think there isn't massive pants-shitting happening in their business offices?  And.....think they are viable if they have no buyers other than the US?

We are on track to completely neuter our domestic defense industry.  Fucking brilliant.

France, Sweden, the UK, and Germany 'bout to make some MONEY.  At our expense.  "America First" my ass.

The company I work for makes radar for detecting drones. Recent events have brought companies in our space a lot of recognition.

After a recent company event one of our sales guys shared this video, it talks about how June 1 and frankly the whole war has really changed things dramatically.

Ignoring the click-baity title, this is one of the better geopolitical analyses I've come across around how the war in Ukraine is shaping the future of the European defense market, particularly around the need for autonomous ground, airborne, and seaborne systems ... It's a longer watch, but well worth it:

Another cool thing to add to this is the newer fiber optic drone - RF silent - the new hotness.
