March 8Mar 8 Finally the baseball gods let us blow this series open That ball started to the left of the Longhorn in CF lol Edited March 8Mar 8 by chase25

March 8Mar 8 That center fielder has no idea. You know that the wind is going to blow the ball to his left and he turned the other way first. Edited March 8Mar 8 by NBHorn7

March 8Mar 8 I think he is out Either way there needs to be an ass chewing over the base running this weekend Edited March 8Mar 8 by chase25

March 8Mar 8 Left handed 1b makes that tag easily. actually a right handed one could as well if they reach behind instead of across his body. Edited March 8Mar 8 by Pato del Muerto
March 8Mar 8 Yes, he has thrown a lot of pitches and others need work. Not much time before SEC play starts, need to see what others can or can't do.
March 8Mar 8 Gasparino kind of gave up on that ball too early, with that kind of wind. Edited March 8Mar 8 by NBHorn7
March 8Mar 8 DP... but I'm not convinced we actually had him at first. Looked safe to me. Whatever. I'll take it.
March 8Mar 8 Ruger has too good of a fastball to be pitching like this. Some of it is on him and some of it is on Max.
March 8Mar 8 Certainly, no ham and egger like Way said, it was very close at first. I thought he was out by a hair.
March 8Mar 8 Is David Pierce sitting in the Santa Clara dugout in disguise and acting as the SC pitching coach?

March 8Mar 8 So, Riojas and Grubbs seem to both be long relievers, if needed. I think they both could be used in other roles also.
March 8Mar 8 If Ruger can command the inner 1/3 of the plate with his fastball he will be tough to hit, if not then he will continue to struggle putting guys away
March 8Mar 8 That's got to be it for Riojas. Think Dre takes over. Riojas can't leave the breaking pitches up. Maybe Weiner had him working on it, thus the lack of fast balls.
March 8Mar 8 Mendoza really has the inside out swing working against that shift. That's at least twice so far in this series.

It now appears to me that the problem is more attributable to knucklehead players than knucklehead coaches … 🤬

March 8Mar 8 Them continually trying to extend Ruger may mean they aren’t sold on Luke as a starter, that and Mercer injury
March 8Mar 8 I think if they want Riojas to be a starter it would be on Sunday. I still see him a Swiss Army Knife for the bullpen. Hate to lose that.

You have to ride your horses in conference play and we are going to need him to save our ass a time or two if we want to accomplish our goals. Edited March 8Mar 8 by Hookem2147

Next 2 games we will probably see some interesting lineups and pitching rotations. I would like to see them try and stretch Navarre to 2 or 3 innings in the next 2 games. Mercer going down and Volantis moving to Sunday leaves a hole in the pen that we don’t currently have a replacement for. Edited March 8Mar 8 by chase25
