I have a better chance of winning the lottery.  I would rather spend my hypothetical mental cycles dreaming about that then worrying about what would happen if Texas makes a deep tournament run.  

I'll throw something else out there. What if the plane never came back to ground but instead kept climbing, to the point it left earth's atmosphere? I know that a space shuttle has insane amounts of thrust/force/speed to get off the ground and into space, but could a plane, already traveling at 40,000 feet doing 500+mph pull the nose up and just keep going? What if that plane was so fucking high that it just left the gravitational pull of the earth???!?

Plane depends on the air around it to generate lift. Assuming it has strong enough engines to just push up vertically without the need for lift, the engines still depend on the air around them for oxygen to burn the fuel for the thrust, unlike a rocket that carries both the fuel and oxygen with it. We’ll ignore the question about the plane basically being an aluminum can surviving the whole ordeal. 

If a car can fly, a plane can surely go to infinity and beyond

. . . and if I recall my dynamics class correctly (always a crap shoot), the actual force equation is d(mv)/dt = m(dv/dt) + v(dm/dt).  The first term is the classic F=ma, but the second term is germane to rockets, which are losing mass as they burn fuel and thus creating thrust.  Or not.  I also don't know how the treadmill comes into play.

Correct. Controlling the burn rate in liquid propellant rockets is easier than the solid propellant ones where they would have non-circular cross-section to keep the desired amount of surface area exposed to the burn as it gets spent.

So the question is if RT shows that he underachieved with this team all year, should he keep his job?

You ever hit a squirrel who ran into the road in front of you with no time to stop? And you saw it still flopping around in your rear view mirror and needed to turn around and “finish” the job? That’s what’s happening now with RT.
