So, the wind will direct this fire toward Fredericksburg?

I’d think to the East, but I’m not sure.

You can see the smoke from Lake Buchanan.

Is that why I smell smoke in south Austin, or are the neighbors just having a good time?

Wind is from the west now but about to start coming from the NW. Looks like Fburg should still be ok though imho.

20 times in a couple of hours.

Damn

Fredericksburg fire says it is going to get to 1631 soon. Evacuate now. That would double the size from my previous post

To add.

3-15-25 500pm - Lindner

Dangerous wildfire continues to rapidly expand eastward north of Fredericksburg and south of Willow City. Fire has jumped Hwy 16 and is burning rapidly toward FM 1631.

Residents on the west side of FM 1631 should evacuate immediately.

The fire continues to exhibit extreme behavior with extensive crowning in cedar stands and heavy brush…ground and air resources have been unable to stop forward progress due to strong winds and humidity less than 15%.

Numerous fire departments from multiple counties are working this fire as well as TFS air resources.

Downstream smoke plume is noted as far east as Austin and Bastrop.

Their next post was “acres up to 8640 as of 3:28 PM map”
I mean they could’ve just used the nasa heat satellite map like I did.

Given the gravity, not a time to joke or point fingers, but I gotta wonder where Iceman is today.

This is our horrifying new reality and I’m truly scared about what’s coming.

Yeah, it was mighty smoky on the east side with ash raining down while we were outside… good times!

So, the wind will direct this fire toward Fredericksburg?

Hopefully they can get it contained before the wind shifts hard the south this evening…

Yep. We are ripe for it. At least the winds have died down

so it looks like the A&M fire service was somehow caught off guard?  with nothing prepared in the area? how?  these conditions have been predicted for at least the last 3 days.

I was out on my bike earlier this afternoon for a ride. the difference in smoke/air quality from when I started til when i finished was noticeable.  I was actually surprised the fire wasnt closer to town when I checked online to see what was burning.

You're not sure how a bunch of aggy could have possibly failed?

I have relatives over and they're watching some shitty tv melodrama but it's literally smokey in here and my allergies are acting up

Damn that thing blew up (not surprised). I was driving though around 5pm, I guess it jumped 16 after that?  Brutal conditions out there .

Right. Those tears have nothing to do with hard working city girl Janet going back to her small hometown and finding love with her high school boyfriend.

Julia Roberts?

Weather forecast - "wind should die down by 7pm" .... it's now 11pm and shit is still blasting. Fucking tried of it.

I didn't know about the Fredericksburg fire but smelled it earlier this evening.

Back in Amarillo.  We in the shit too.  Any time the wind blows, really.

It's a reality of where we live.
