Ok are we numbering them by fielding position or some other fucked up jt method?

2,6,8,4,3,9,5,1,7,dh.

I mean if you think Jordana Brewster can play short stop then go ahead and do it your way.

HP ump and 3B coach having a rough day:

Umpire accidentally rung the batter up with two strikes and then on the next pitch the Rangers gun Ketel Marte out at the plate to end the inning

Zach Neto is pretty good.  Man, I remember laughing when they picked him in the 2022 draft.

Hell, Neto and Horton look like the best players out of that draft.  Horton pitched another gem tonight.

I want to like him but it’s real hard to get past him looking like a little bitch earlier this year… and getting worked up because he got hit by Brown in June of last year too. Just not a good look. But yeah, he’s fun to watch outside of being a moron here

Hunter Brown tells a frustrated Zach Neto that he got hit because he's standing on home plate, a breakdown

Ohtani just got caught looking at strike 3 that was 4” off the plate.  We need auto strikes and balls now.

It’s a bad call but let’s not get carried away.

(but yes there is no excuse not to have ABS in the big leagues)

mets is crazy considering diaz’s dominance ever since he got his legs made to be the same size.

Both New York teams come into today with 0.5 game leads for the last wild card spot over a team from Ohio.

I honestly think stolen bases is the next biggest market inefficiency.

Teams flat-out do not try to steal nearly enough (Tigers = 64 SB attempts all season).  Guys like Naylor and Goldschmidt have shown that you don't even have to be speedy to be a successful base stealer.

There needs to be at least one team that tries to go full-blown '85 Cardinals and just run and run and run.  With so many shitty teams who really aren't trying to win, there is no excuse for at least one of them not to try something crazy.

The most obvious team that should be trying this strategy is the Rockies.  If I were GM, I'd try like hell to trade for Chandler Simpson and Victor Scott, have an every day outfield of Scott, Simpson, and Doyle, let them chase down everything that's hit and tell each of them that I want 100 SB attempts next season.

#3131

The current SB success rate is like 80%. If more people try it and it ends up going down to like 70% that still seems well worth it.

If read that guys have estimated that the "break-even" success rate is 75%, but that's just dumb because that amalgamates a thousand different game situations.  There are plenty of game situations where I'm sure a 60% success rate would break even.

I was watching a game the other day where a team REALLY needed to advance a base runner, and the defensive team was playing a catcher who had been in the minors most of the season and was 0-11 against SB attempts.  The pitcher never even threw over to 1B and the inning ended quickly.

I'm also frequently amazed that there seem to be 2-3 guys in the Astros thread who are always calling for sac bunts to advance the runner.

This situation is starting to really annoy me.

I was there.  The Rocks started their backup catcher at designated "hitter" (sic).  He now has a .239 OBP.

You’ll  really be annoyed when games return to 3 hours because of 22 replay reviews to determine if the trip of the oven mitt touched the bag before the glove grazed the last cleat.

But yeah, I completely agree with you on the premise. Seems to me most teams are so ingrained with the philosophy of not doing anything that might risk stopping a big inning and haven’t fully quantified/appreciated the impact of the larger bases/limited pickoffs on the increase in success rate.

Based on the expected runs table I found via google, a 74% success rate is break-even for a runner on first with no outs. By stealing second, the runner gains .23 expected runs while losing .65 expected runs if he’s thrown out.

J.R. Richard was for a time the very best pitcher on the planet. In his last 30 MLB starts, batters slugged .209 against him. That's not the batting average. That's the slugging percentage.pic.twitter.com/Rlfl3GXUij https://t.co/dKlxIMoyXH

Milwaukee wants number 13.  They gave up 7 in the bottom of the 2nd to fall behind 8-1 but scored 5 in the top of the 3rd to get back in it.

1.  Death penalty for anybody that fights at a ballpark.  NFL, MLB, NCAA, whatever.  There's no place for that shit at all.

2) Fuck Josh Hamilton.  He's a fucking piece of fucking dogshit.  Vlad fucking Putin is a better human than Josh Hamilton.  I hope that cocksucker dies in a meth lab explosion.  He's a fucking scumbag.
